The pricing must not be a joke because people are buying them. Also the packages like the redline sell very well for chevrolet. The silverado's sold out of their special editions so those who think not have no idea what people are buying. Also i have not heard of timing chain issues in the 3.6. I have couple of friends and they have no problems with them. Now the transmissions were a issue but they covered it under a extended warranty.

Love how this is suppose to be a GM site but I see more GM bashing than positive post.

It's a GM site where people voice their concerns with GM products, not bow down to every latest offering.

The 3.6 was such garbage when it first came out. If you don't know about the timing chain problems then you need a new search engine. This was a problem even on 2015's.

Also post those sales numbers of the redline and those ghetto special editions.

I see tons of the Silverado special editions and in the cruze forum tons of people are buying the Red Lines, but they don't break them out like that. So these special editions sell very well.

Some more 2018 Chevy Traverse photos are below. As others have mentioned in this thread, pricing is way out of line compared to similarly equipped Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, Hyundai Santa Fe, etc. Perhaps GM intentionally wants to ratchet down annual sales of the Traverse, because these prices will constrain the vehicle's target audience.

Chevrolet leads in SUV sales, and execution, there is a reason GM SUV's fetch more. If there's a core GM competence, its SUV,s performance an V8's. They are the best in the business.

Unlike Honda, or Toyota, the Traverse is not a Malibu station wagon with big wheels, its Engineered to be a Tahoe alternative.

$54K for a Traverse - joke
Someone has never priced at Honda Pilot with the Elite trim level. The Traverse is right inline with the competition.

A Malibu (or Impala) station wagon with big wheels is exactly what this new Traverse represents. It's a crossover through and through (not a traditional SUV), just like Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander.

Tahoe and Suburban are in a different market category and cater to a distinct customer base compared to Traverse.

They did a great job with the Traverse, but I wish the production model had the level stance and ride height of the one in the press photos. That would make it look like a much more expensive SUV and less like a minivan.

What were the transmission issues? We have a 2011 Traverse LTZ and occassionally it clunks when shifting from Reverse to Drive. Feels like the transmission isn't fully engaged when we hit the gas. Have had our dealership look at it a few times when under factory warranty but it was/is so sporadic they couldn't replicate it.

Never had any issues or heard of anything with the 3.6 timing chains.

That's thanks to the Tahoe and fleet sales.

Joke's on y'all when it sells.
The appetite for CUVs are the same as the Fat Guys at the Golden Corral... Unlimited.

Premium interior only comes in shades of gray. The brown accents are nice on the light gray, but they could use a nice tan.

Big big fan of the new Traverse, at least in terms of design. Pricing is very confident; I hope there's a lot of jelly in that High Country doughnut, because it comes in at quite a few G's over the very nice Pilot Touring Elite and very near the 3.5L EcoBoost-powered Explorer Platinum.

High Country and Premier both have pretty high prices. I like the new Traverse a lot, but unless there's a secret sauce I can't see from a configurator, I'm not able to justify its sale over the upper level Explorers or Pilot when I put myself in the shoes of someone buying a big crossover.

I hear Mark Reuss gets hard over two things: mismatched brake calipers and his wife wearing nothing but decal tape.
Ha! I'm sure plenty of crossover buyers will be more than happy with a "sport" look and couldn't care less about actual sportiness. Those who do probably wouldn't be shopping for a crossover in the first place. The sport crossover niche, i.e., Jeep and Dodge SRTs, etc., is probably very small.

GM's pricing on almost all models puts them significantly above their competitors. Much of it has to do with option package requirements where you have to get a package you may not want to get one you do. The higher trim levels get crazy expensive. Remember when GM positioned themselves as the high value alternative?? Not anymore. I still wince at cost-cutting measures like the tiny 15" wheel covers or tacky flanged 16" wheels on Cruze and Malibu models. Ever see a Cruze with the RS package and those tiny wheels?! Looks ridiculous. And GM has decided to charge $395 on up for many metallic colors even though the paints are in no way premium. Chrysler, Ford, Honda and Toyota all offer richer colors with sparkly metallic flake usually at no additional charge.

The light/medium atmosphere color schemes in new Chevys is a terrible throwback to the rental car beige/grey interiors of the mid-90s. To each his own, but in person, it's bland and lifeless.
