I test drove the 2k2 GP and the Maxima, never drove the Alti. I know that the last gen GP could not compare to the last gen Max. I haven't driven the new GP though so it may be a very different beast.

The Nissan Altima/Maxima share a platform with the AWD Murano. Does anyone know about an AWD Altima/Maxima coming soon?

Murano/FX/G35 coupe/sedan/350z all share the same RWD chassis.
altima and maxima share whatever FWD crap they are on now.
Maybe some of them. My father has a '97 Infiniti I-30, the Infiniti version of the Maxima. He says it's okay, but it had quite a few problems. He probably don't buy another Nissan/Infiniti. Now if only I could steer my parents away from Hondas as well... (at least I got him liking GM!)Originally posted by paul8488@Feb 12 2004, 02:33 PM
it's amazing what a following the maxima has... i don't think ANY toyota or honda sedan owners are as passionate about their cars. people LOVE their maximas! it's surprising, really, to see such a cult following for such a mainstream car. or at last that's what i've always noticed. looks like maybe the impala is on that track... which'd be nice for sure!
reaaaaaaly? I thought the FX and Murano were the same chassis? No he was right:
Altima/Maxima/Murano are all on the FWD midsize platform
G35/FX/350Z are all RWD platforms wich are versions of the the Skyline GTR chassis.... (lightly based of course)

The FM platform is the basis of the G/FX and 350Z while the FFL platform is the basis for the Maxima/Altima, Murano, and Quest.Originally posted by TaHoE@Feb 12 2004, 03:10 PM
Don't worry, thats what I initially thought as well, but the FX is RWD and the Murano is FWD...I believe the Quest is also based off of the FFM platform
Nissan has absolutely nothing on GM: Not quality, not design, not manufacturing ability, not engineering prowess... nothing. And I absolutely stand by my opinion. For me, Nissan's cars are OK overall. From a design, technical innovation, and especially quality standpoint, they certainly have nothing over GM. Of course, I cannot help but think that Nissan has unfairly ridden Toyota's and Honda's "Japanese-do-it-better coattails" to higher sales.
I have to disagree with ya here. Nissan puts GM to shame in terms of performance (minus Corvette of course). I went to Nissan because GM didn't feel that it was nessisary to put a manual tranny in their "performance" sedans. Plus I'm not one for forced induction, I think it's the easy way out. Nissan's 3.5 motor is incredibly smooth and responsive. Pontiac's blown GP GTP motor equals the 3.5 in HP and only edges the 3.5 in Torque. Remember though that the 3.5 is smaller and N/A. I went to Nissan to actually buy a 2k2 Altima when the came out, but I was scared off by the interior. I ended up in a 2k2 Maxima with a better interior and more options for less than I could have gotten an Altima for anyway. I just hope that the new interior is better than the old one.
