General Motors has been fairly tight-lipped about whether or not we'll see the next-generation Chevrolet Colorado here in the Land Of The Free. Right now, most signs point to "no." That's a real shame, too, given that the new mid-sized pickup packs what appears to be an efficient and powerful 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine and some snappy styling. That's the kind of combination that could make us miss the new global Ford Ranger all the less. Regardless of whether or not the new Colorado makes it to our back yard, the truck promises to bring buyers elsewhere in the world the capability they want in a convenient package.

A keen-eyed member of Asian forum BBZnet has managed to snap a few quick shots of what appears to be a production version of the pickup. The vehicle has lost the integrated rear bumper of the concept as well as its large 20-inch wheels, but remains fairly true to the original design otherwise.

I cannot decide if i like it or if it looks tacky and cheap. It has very korean panels to it. I hope it doesnt feel cheap especially on the interior like the current truck.

This truck is the GMI 700, Thailand built...no idea if this is coming stateside. US suppliers are quoting a new C31XXN, which supposedly is the Colorado replacement or the US. Again, I do not know if it is a tweak of the 700 or an all new truck.

Generally, I like the truck, but, it needs to have a more 'truck'-style headlights to it. The Asian truck market is ok with having a car look to it, but, thats because thats what their trucks are...cars with boxes essentially.
I like the big sqaure GMT-900 styled rear tails, but, the front looks far too Nissan or Toyota for me....maybe it will grow on me (or maybe I just love my s-series trucks too much, lol)

I very much dislike the fact that we here in the U.S. are a 2nd tier market (an also ran?, a non-priority?) when it comes to new products from GM. It seems we have to "settle" for products that have either been elsewhere for two to three years already, or we helplessly watch other countries get a variety of new products that we ourselves would like but are destined to miss. The only exception that readily comes to mind being the Volt, which I hope to someday have. I am sure others on this forum will rally to GMs defense and list several other models that we have/will get first. But I hold firm to my conviction.

Why are so many new models "Missing In Action" for the U.S.? Are we not a large enough market?

As for a new Colorado, I would like to have an opportunity to price one and purchase it here in the U.S; at least have a choice in the matter.

Looks pretty good.

As long as a "small" or "mid sized" truck has 1/3 the incentives, gets within a couple of mpg of a full size truck, and costs comparable to a full size truck, it will never sell in numbers in the US.

Build a basic, 5 exterior color, air conditioned, 1 engine/2 trans choice/1 interior/base radio truck with dealer upgrades for wheels/sound systems. Price it $5k lower than the base full size truck. You'll sell all you care to build.

First time buyers, economy buyers, teenagers, basic transportation buyers will snap it up.

Overall I like it.

Though not too sure about the "dead space" between the headlights and bumper. Looks like the designers couldn't figure out what to do, and gave up.

Even though that same "gap" seemed to have worked better on the concept.

Maybe daytime running LEDs would help in the slot.

The profile reminds me of the current Toyota Tacoma.

If they don't bring this here, then they do not care at all about the truck market in general. CAFE should make this thing almost mandatory here. LOL

Maybe its just me but those don't look like 20 inch wheels. More like 18's if I had to guess. Maybe its the picture, but I don't think so.

OOOPS, I see it says it LOST 20 inch wheels. My bad.

I must say, it is definitely a more stylish truck than anything else on the American market. But, like a couple others here, I also think the front end is a little too car-like. I'm sure it's to help lower drag coefficient while staying stylish, but trucks also need to look like trucks.

Overall, I do like the design, and I really hope GM brings it here and prices it right. Pricing the entry Silverado so low and the mid-range Colorado so high is what's been killing it.

The tail lights remind me of a Dodge Dakota

that should be sold not only in Asia and USA but in Europe too. All Asian manufacturers sell their small pick-ups here.
