Not bad, looks like they upgraded the seats, the Steering wheel needs to go though, maybe the same one as in the H2?
yes, but you know if they do that then they get the "parts bin" thing from the people that dont like them as much, and that brings down the name, which is something i know GM does NOT want that to happen to their possibly only successful car/truck thats over 100k$

true but people with something against GM will use anything to tie togeather a cheap car to a ultra expensive car like this. and a steering wheel might just be enouph. it wouldnt bother me any, but some people would just freak about it. im sure of it. ive seen people freak out about door handles, mirrors and other minor stuff and thats only a difference of a chevy and a buick pontiac. but the difference between what that hummer is worth and the H2 is about 60k$ over twice the price of the H2

am i the only one seeing that hte reason another steering wheel isn't used is that the car pictured does not have an airbag? i imagine its omittable because its size/weight/and or leftover legal classification stemming from its military heritage have it classified in a different vehicle category than passenger vehicle/truck, etc, and therefore is exempt from the requirement?

To my knowledge, airbags still aren't mandatory. I may be wrong, but there's no government legislation on them. But a car manufacturer would be silly not to offer one in today's day and age.
I think they're manditory in most vehicles in the U.S... but not some large trucks.

I don't get it. Y would U need 2 drive this like an Accord?

Exactly. And, you could flatten several Accords with this vehicle.

More to the point, I do like the interior. It looks "upmarket," or whatever the buzzword is. The truck is supposed to be an offroader, so I can see where they wouldn't put an airbag in it. But, I think it should be a "luxury" option.

Even if the vehical doesnt need an airbag, they could have put something different in its place. I think that steering wheel looks out of place, like they bought it at AutoZone.

I was under the assumption that H1 belonged to AM General and all GM was responsible for was Marketing and Advertising? Maybe I read that somewhere!
The H1 does still belong to Am General, but GM and AM General worked together to update the vehicle. And in regards to bigals87z28’s comment “for 110k, there should be a better radio and interior then that.” I suppose you think The Air Force should install Lazy Boys and top of the line Alpine audio systems in our 20 million dollar war planes because they cost so much? The H1 is still built for industrial use; the civilian version is just to supplement income for the company.

As for the steering wheel comment, I think that GM needs divisional steering wheels, not platform steering wheels. I think all Pontiacs should use a wheel like or similar to the GTO’s or the Grand Prix’s but I don’t think the Escalade, Yukon, Yukon XL, Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado, Sierra, Trail Blazer, Envoy, Rainer, Savana, and Express should all have the same steering wheel. No offense to anyone, but with Cadillac working on its image I do not think that it needs the same steering wheel right in front of the driver that someone who buys an Express as a plumbing work truck has. Not really the “Standard of the World,” more like American Standard. However, I think GM did a great job of making a legend better with out sacrificing any legendary qualities. I am sure GM will shock us all with great future products, if given time and if not having to worry about stepping on anyone’s toe because of product heritage.

It looks pretty good, but what is up with that massive storage area in the middle?  Obviously I know nothing about the HUMMER H1, but it looks like you could fit Aunt Edna in there!
:zap:

Ming, please don't take offense when I say that this was the funniest thing I heard all day, even though the day just started for me! Whooo!

I don't think HUMMER really cares who says what, as long as it isn't published in AutoWeek, MotorTrend, etc. Some folks read more into a commercial than they should. For instance, I heard about this one guy comment that HUMMER was teaching kids to start forest fires with their new ad Illumination, or perhaps the Happy Jack commercial: HUMMER support child molesters! He! He! I start rolling over laughing when I hear about this stuff. :bounce:

The steering wheel is a MOMO.

The H1 is a class 3 truck, air bags aren't required on class 3 trucks. Also being a serious off road vehicle it would be bad to have the bag go off when you hit a tree or something. Also theres not a lot of room between the wheel and the driver, maybe there isn't enough room for the bag.

You guys know the new interior has berber carpet? How does that work in a vehicle with drain holes built into the floorboard. I don't like the new interior. The new interior is more spacious though.

AMG is in charge of changes for the H1 for now, but AMG gets their money from GM. GM told them the H1 needed a new interior and AMG let GM put one in.

H1s sticker for 100k+ but aren't sold at that price.

Yes that is the 2004 H1.
