MAN THAT IS A GOOD LOOKING CAR!!!!
Now thats a looker!! The Rims are nothing lke GM has ever put in a Sedan before.
I today went by the chevy dealer where I bought the HHR to see the sale person. The current Malibu Interior LTZ is really very nice save for the Center console where the plastics suck.
They Said he can put for me a GM accessories Navigation unit and blue tooth,. I told him to call me when the 2008's hit. I will get one for about $20K perhaps next year.
Brand New LTZ with Navigation and Bluetooth.
Continue buying your Camry

The Malibu is not "Game-Changing" as that will be the (glorious) day when GM is leading the mid-size car trends and setting the standard to be followed. (As in "The new Camry mid-cycle enhancement appears to be a well executed counter-attack on the much talked about Chevy Malibu and emulates it quite well." Car and Driver August 2016). That's my opinion of a "Changed Game" anywayz.

I really like the 'Bu though it appears GM is going to position it as the inoffensive Camry killer. The next Aura/Vectra will probably go after the Accord more aggressively. Hopefully the G6 will go RWD and kick the crap out of the Altima. So,

Malibu vs. Camry Volume
Aura vs. Accord Euro
G6 vs. Altima Sport

The 'Bu fills its roll quite well, don't worry GM knows what they are doing despite the fact that the last time they did was around like 1975.

The more I see it, the better it looks.

I like the new chrome inserts in the grill. For a bland sedan, this thing looks expensive.

The steering wheel still may need to go, but overall even the interior looks decent.

Reminds me of a lucerne. Pretty nice.
Yea, from the side it looks like a Lucerned, from the back a VW, and from the front a generic - soft - and conservative Chevy.

I expect a good showing. 200k sales, but won't effect Toyanda much, maybe the lessers and probably Datsun. But the redesign in 3 or 4 years had better be damn good; it maybe GM's last shot, especially since it will have plug-in capabilies at that point!

Based on PHOTOS, at least, I think the Chrysler got an unfair shake from you guys, while the Malibu was put on a way too tall pedestal.
Your joking right? You have to be. That Chrysler dash is ungainly, almost like an afterthought.

The Malibu's interior is leaps and bounds ahead of that monstrosity.

Look, the whole purpose of the gray on gray interior is because SOME people will like it. Do they alienate those that do like it so you people that don't are happy? No, they give you something like 5 or 6 other options to choose from. Move on, this point is dead.

When did you sit in the '08 Malibu?

I've been in the Avenger and Sebring, so I'm not completely talking out of my neck.
@ NYIAS of course. Now don't get me wrong, the Malibu isn't the be all end all, but its a small tiny step ahead of the Aura, which IMO is leaps and bounds ahead of the Avenger and slighly head of the Sebring.

I agree with what Buick61 said, that car ain't very special, it's only a decent offering. It would be fair if it beat Camry sales because it looks better but still I don't give Malibu a chance with Honda products.
I like some of the dark interior shots we have seen. I can't only stand the door panels. My aunt's 95' Caprice Classic panels look better than those on Malibu. There are chrome buttons, big American-style chrome handle and soft
upholstering. I am sorry to say that but I hate the fact some American manufacturers ripped off so many elements of Japanese design. The problem is Japanese improved and make nowadays better details than those on average Malibu and horrid Sebring.

man that front end is ugly (some shots look decent, i think the darker colors hide the ugliness so it looks better)....the rear end is worse.

Its that big chevy bar that runs across the grille. Makes the grille look too high (or the bar is too thick). I dunno what it is but some pics it looks hidious, some pics it looks pretty alright.

Side profile has a bit of STS and Acura TL from what i can tell so that looks fine.

The guage cluster doesnt seem to fit the rest of the interior theme......
The corporate radio...ugh....the whole center stack (the metallic part) has this kind of trapezoidal shape but they had to go and stick a square in the middle to accomodate the corporate radio.....

The Chryslers suffer from too many shapes and lines and sharpish edges. If they soften the edges off (make them kind of rounded somewhat) it may improve the look.

OMG, that's gawwwgus! This one should've been a Buick!

Of course I am still lukewarm about the interior in base versions (navigation, where ar't thou?) and the "what happened" rear end, but compared to what GM has now, I am impressed!

**ATTENTION GM**
Please, DO NOT give ANY Malibu's with the grey interior to the press for reviews.

You can go onto Chevy.com and see actual interior shots for each of the colors. My favorite is the two tone tan with wood trim.

Oh, and I know GM will give the big car mags the damn grey interior, because they always give the worst color combos for magazine photo shoots. Drives me nuts. Bob Lutz, keep your eye on these idiots and make sure they present the Malibu in its best light! Watch out for poor marketing....
Good post u got a point, cant argue with what u wrote there.

Did anyone else notice the shifters on the steering wheel? Very nice touch.

I want to like this car, but i cant get past the front and rear. I am sure quality wise its great, but the front and rear just isnt for me.
Ditto for me. Just can't find something to like with the styling, but I'm pleased that so many people seem to like it. It's certainly a huge step forward from the current car.

I sat in the Sebring and the Avenger (passenger side) and I dislike the massive plastic bloc in front of me.

Back to the '08 Malibu, I LIKE IT (minus the rear end) ! Now all GM has to do is to put the 6 speed-auto on the Hybrid. I still don't understand why the 2.4 L LTZ has the 6-speed and the 2.4 BAS is still with the 4-speed. Most Hybrid buyers I know are interested in having the latest technology.
