I have noticed this with Toyota too. Same damn silver/grey look...on the lots.
They have another color? Oh yeah... beige.

I sat in the Sebring and the Avenger (passenger side) and I dislike the massive plastic bloc in front of me.

Back to the '08 Malibu, I LIKE IT (minus the rear end) ! Now all GM has to do is to put the 6 speed-auto on the Hybrid. I still don't understand why the 2.4 L LTZ has the 6-speed and the 2.4 BAS is still with the 4-speed. Most Hybrid buyers I know are interested in having the latest technology.
The BAS system I belive is designed to work with the 4spd auto, they didnt engineer it with the 6spd auto.
Lets not get worked up about the "4 speed auto" in the Two-Mode set ups....(hint:its not a 4 spd auto).

These are some great pictures of the car. I think that the 18's really give the car a great stance and fit the car better. The grey interior looks bad in pictures, but I have the grey/metalic interior in my Maxx, and its not that bad. I liked it better then the tan/wood set up...not a fan of wood.
I like the all black with the wood/metalic trim. Id like to see a black and grey interior? At this point, couldnt they just do a mix and match set up? Black top, grey bottoms?

The 2008 Malibu is an excellent design (exterior and interior). For all the complaints about the interior, compare it to the Camry Accord. It looks much better than both cars.

Even when I compare the 2008 Malibu to the upcoming Accord, the Malibu is more upscale and competent. The Accord is an awkward design; its resembles the last generation Saturn LS.

I think this version will be a paradigm change for GM and the NA market.

Admittedly this is a poor rendition, and my opinion typically differs from the 'gang' out here, but I think the '08 Malibu grille is all wrong. There are too many grille segments, and the upper segment starts too high on the front.

Also, it seems that GM gets all confused with what to do with the horizontal Chevy 'bar' in the grille, even with the new HHR SS.

Should be a single grille, lower on the fascia.

Exactly, the front styling is not impressive, and the rear looks too much not the Lucerne, which to me is on the
bland and uninspiring side. Overall shape of the vehicle is fine, but I was sorely disapointed with the final products
styling. I just don't feel it stands out in the crowd. It's too bland for me to pick it over the new 08 Honda Accord, if I was shopping the two vehicles. Plus it just doesn't have the
Accords fine reputation and resale value.
I'd like to see GM take more styling risks, in order to seperate themselves from the bland looking Japanese competition.
I honestly have to disagree with you guys opinion. First thing this car aint "bland" its very distinctive judging by its front grill showing the new face of Chevrolet and peculiar rear end (which does takes getting used to) not to mention the svelte side profile which I must say is quite superior to other cars in its class. As a matter of fact the car you are describing is the current Impala... that car doesent stand out from the crowd at all yet is a good sales performer.

If you guys were complaining about the lack of optionable features as on screen Nav via multifunction LCD which would also do duty as entertainment console and vehicle data display, projector beam head lamps, bluetooth connectivity then I would have had nothing to say and agree, but no not the styling the car looks great its good to go.

Round it off a bit, remove the Chevy badge and replace it with the tri-shield and you have something dangerously close to the Buick version. Kidding.

Good idea, but I think yours looks a little too much like the ~2007 Malibu (with the refreshed grille) which GM is apparently trying to make us forget about. And the squared off theme doesn't mesh well with this 'Bu's lines.

The two-tone gray interior is not one I'd choose. The two-tone black/brown though? That's hot.

The car looks great in these pictures and it looks great in person as well.

Here's the problem though--the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord are the DEFAULT CHOICE in this segment. They've been the standard for so long that it's what people just go "I need a new car, time for another Camry," with little to no thought involved. GM has to convince people to think--a challenge if there ever was one.

No no no no no.:lmao: That chop there is absolutely disgusting... and yeah its a poor rendition. They way u guys are tripping over yourselves and yacking about the front end is quite embarrasing we already knew what the front end would look like for a year yet we still see posts like these butchering the Malibu grille.

Its the new face of Chevrolet and I recommend you get used to it.

Compare the new Malibu to the Impala. Look at the Impala sales numbers. The new 'Bu will do just fine. This thing will sell well everywhere, and will take the heartland by storm.

Go check the interior images on the Chevy web site. I think the Cocoa/Cashmere color combo looks the best. Maybe someone with better skills/tools can get the image into this thread?

Ummm not quite. You're right there are to many segments, but what they need to do is lose the bottom rectangular opening completely, and make the upper and lower openinging maybe a wee bit taller. Or even maybe just leave them as they are and simply lose that bottom one. The chop you made looks like a late '90s Chysler Sebring...no thinks. :(

One thing that doesn't come through in these pictures is the chrome around the windows. It is incredibly detailed and well put together.

Also, the interior looks better in person. It has a 'warmth' that is lacking in its Japanese competitors.
