i would never buy a car with it's engine in the wrong place. the engine sits in front of the front axles.
At least not in this class. But that is precisely the reason Audi makes the most profits for Volkswagen.. They have managed to convince the gullible public that a FWD Audi with a RWD like engine mount is worth a BMW 5 series money.
Their motors though sound sick.. to me Audi motors are gems...

If Only Cadillac could move to engineer their motors to a higher level than the GM Engines, which are exellent, but should not go into Cadillac, since then people perceive they are getting a Chevrolet..

Until Audi is RWD or AWD with RWD bias it's just a glorified VW.

Not sure I follow that logic - Skoda and Seat share power trains and platforms with VW and Audi - Porsche and Bentley share powertrains and platforms with Audi - IF the powertrains and platforms were better, GM could share much more between Chevrolet and Cadillac.

Edsel type grilles and unreliable engines Audi what a crap combination, Yuk!!

A friend of mine says his son is stripping down rebuilding 20 engines a week a his local Audi dealer.

You become an instant understated person according to their ads if you buy Audi junk. From what l have experienced of their drivers they are among the most lethal dangerous idiots, l have ever seen encountered behind the wheel of any car brand on the roads. They should be made to wear permanent L plates.

How to style a new Audi.

Take a 10 year old design. Change the headlights. Call it a day.
They got that technique from their affiliates at Porsche

I love reading about and talking about cars but not enough to spend that kind of money for an average looking car. I would top out at a base Corvette and keep it for ten years (because they never break down and maintenance is cheap).

My wife dreads taking the A4 in for service, and surprisingly she is asking that my next car be a Corvette, and no more German cars.

According to Fleet News in the UK, Audi is the 2nd most reliable brand, beaten only by BMW - perhaps VAG has taken it's eye off the ball for petrol/gasoline engines given they sell so few on their home territory where the vast majority of sales are diesel.

Looks better up front, but really needs a change for the greenhouse/roofline - which is why the A7 is so much better looking and worth the premium.

As an aside many other automakers have been using the hexagonal-shaped grill and kinked headlights.

"Glorified VW" sold at BMW, Mercedes-Benz prices - good business!
Not quite MB and BMW prices but don't have to be (there's a reason why VW Group makes the bulk of its profit from Audi with VW bringing in little by comparison).

I wonder what sort of tune C&D would sing if this car, as it stands, had a Cadillac badge on its hood?
I wonder what sort of tune GMI would sing if this car, as it stands, had a Cadillac badge on its hood?

It's a stupid thing to ponder, not to mention that Car and Driver already reviewed the CTS and compared it with an A6 (among others), placing it second overall.

Well some models do. Its 40:60 rear bias. Originally it was RS + S models, but I think its rolled out to more now.

We recently drove the 3.0L TDI engine in the A6 and were thoroughly impressed with it. It was a lot quicker than we thought it would be, while still being very smooth, only minimal noise.

I don't know about that. The S6 is a monster...

The cars are actually pretty close:

Cadillac: 420 HP, 430 lb/ft from a TT V6
Audi: 420HP, 406 lb/ft from a TT V8

Cadillac: 0-60 in 4.4 (Car and Driver)
Audi: 0-60 in 3.7 (Car and Driver) The AWD helps here I am sure of it.

Cadillac: Max road holding 0.97g (Car and Driver)
Audi: Max road holding 0.87g (Car and Driver)

However, you pay $15,000 more for the S6 versus the VSport. Are the difference REALLY worth that much money? You'll likely be able to get a CTS-V for near that amount.

The A6 is an excellent car. There's no point in arguing that with people who don't agree. It is what it is.

You're right about the AWD helping it. And don't forget launch control (you can only use it a limited amount of times, however :p) A CTS VSport and an Audi S6 without using launch control would be a much closer race to 60. Also, I'm pretty confident that both cars would be about even racing from 20mph on... Though the Audi would likely win a 1/4 mile race - but not by much...

I'm not quite sure how Audi managed to bearly get 400 lb/ft of torque from their V8 when Cadillac got 430 out of their V6. That's just silly.

I like the S6 styling better than the CTS - as well as the V8 (better for modifying).

They're very close, yes. But GM is stupid for not offering AWD on the Vsport. Lots of people in the Midwest and Northeast wouldn't buy one without it, myself included.

I'd pick the S6 over the Vsport though. The motor in the S6 is sublime.

Under - rated? Which would be pretty common with the Germans.

Agreed. VSport would be the first Cadillac sedan I would be interested in, but its a no go without AWD here in the land of ice and snow (some parts had the first snow of the season last night). Love the S6 and S7, great combo of Sport and everyday drive-ability, with AWD for the winter months.
