Lol what bias?
The design itself is pleasant and inoffensive. Like a Buick would be. But again, it’s derivative and doesn’t bring anything new to the table as far as design goes. Celestiq is unique. Escalade IQ is unique. They are Cadillac through and through. This is not. Which, whatever. It’s an entry level EV CUV and it looks fine for what it is. But it certainly isn’t a showstopper or anything earth shattering and that’s just fine.
Cadillac sucks and I know better bias. Critique for the sake of it.
Celestiq and the electric Escalade are $150k-$300k+. The Neiman Marcus Celestiq was supposedly like $900k. Why even compare? You have to keep the audience (and the canvas) in mind before you judge a work.
It’s a small crossover for the bottom of their market, it bears a resemblance to the slightly bigger crossover in the Cadillac lineup. What are they supposed to do, reinvent the wheel? I'm sure the slightly biggerer one will look like it too, I hope nobody has their hopes up for the Vistiq.
That said, I think we can agree in spirit with your first take—meh. It’s nice, it’ll do the trick—for what it is.
I do disagree that it’s easily badge-swapped, they just share similar design elements that the parent studio has clearly determined are now and future musts—more gender-neutral design, floating center console, low profile long touchscreen display.
