The German retail arm of Mercedes-Benz has released images and figures on the upcoming 2015 C63 AMG sedan, and so far, things are looking rather great.

Of course, given the looks and performance of the standard 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, that’s no surprise—especially not after AMG has had its turn massaging the car into something more track-worthy.

As yet, these specs and details are only for the German market, and may well change before making the translation to America, but they do give us some good insight into the basic outlines of the car.

So what’s the deal? The 2015 C63 AMG gets a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine similar to the one found in the new AMG GT. Rated at 503 hp and 516 lb-ft, the new engine is considerably stronger than the 6.2-liter normally aspirated V-8 from the previous-generation C63 AMG. Despite the boosted power output, the C63 AMG claims gas mileage of 28 mpg or better in European testing.

Weight will be important but 516 is hard to deny.

The all-new Mercedes C63 AMG is here! Only it isn't, because it's now called the Mercedes-AMG C63, in keeping with the new naming convention introduced with the Mercedes-AMG GT with which it shares its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine.

BMW's M3 had best have enjoyed its brief moment in the sun too because with the arrival of the new C63 we've got an all new instalment of the long-running power war between M GmbH and AMG. We'll get to that shortly though; first up some highlights of the new C63.

Good news includes two power outputs - standard 476hp/479lb ft and 510hp/516lb ft S - and fuel consumption improved by almost a third. Downsizing (it's all relative) from 6.2 litres to 4.0 litres and a weight saving of 90kg over the outgoing W204 C63 play their part here, a coasting function in the updated MCT seven-speed auto also helping. It all means most un-AMG like efficiency numbers of 34.5mpg and 192g/km, figures even the most ardent fan of the outgoing M156 normally aspirated V8 can't ignore. There's a lot more tech than before too, from standard Porsche-style active engine mounts to optional ceramic brake discs. Joy of joys a mechanical limited-slip diff is now standard on the C63 too, the S getting a fancier electronically controlled locking diff.

You're willing to spend $100k++ on a C-class. Don't get me wrong it would be an amazing ride but that would be a tough pill to swallow at that price. If I was going to spend that kind of money it would have to be an E-class which Mercedes has said will also have an AMG model this time around.

I'm gonna miss the previous gen NA V8.
I will to it sounded amazing and could be had with 507hp but not as much torque. The new one might sound decent but with less cubes and a turbo to quiet things down it will most likely be way to quiet under power. Mercedes might pull a rabbit out of their hat and really work on the exhaust note, pretty tough with a turbo though.

It won't be priced like the Black just because it has as much power. That's not what drives the price. It will be priced similar to the M3 because that's where it is positioned. With a motor like this, the new Black will probably make closer to 600 hp. Also, it doesn't have AWD at this point, probably because it will add another 150 lbs to a car that's probably going to be a lot heavier than the competition.

The CLA amg starts at 48 grand....the two seat Mercedes GT amg coupe just released runs 100 to 120 grand.

The sedan, coupe, convertible C63 will be priced to compete with the M3/M4 give or take five grand.

Can a BMW M3/4 be priced close to 90 grand....? Yes but for most it will be a lease anyway so it's just a monthly payment...

I think the c63 will start at 60 just like the BMW m series.

590 PS and 602 lb-ft of torque with ECU Upgrade

Very impressive. These cars are going to make some serious power after some other tuners get a hold of them.

From the article:
From showroom floor, the V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo beast of an engine produces 476 PS and 479 lb-ft in the Mercedes C63 and 510 PS and 516 lb-ft in the Mercedes C63 S, but DTE-Systems is willing to raise these figures through a plug & play ECU upgrade benefiting from multi-map technology. After the software upgrade is implemented, the Mercedes AMG engine is puts out 590 PS and 602 lb-ft of torque.
