Yes because we all know the Camry will actually achieve that mileage. Just like the Prius gets the advertised mileage. I mean we know how wonderful the Highlander hybrid turned out to be as well. I mean did it not get....worse mileage than the standard model. I could be wrong but no Toyota hybrid gets the advertised mileage. I'll wait for some real world mileage numbers before I start singing the praises of a car that rips off the latest Mazda styling cues and yet some manages to screw them all up.drew770 said:The only thing in the article that is of any use is that the Camry Hybrid will rated at 43 city and 37 highway with a range of 700 miles from it's 17.1 gallon fuel tank!!!!!! Plus, it will be priced lower the the premium v6 model.
Well, how long do we wait for the next generation Malibu? What's the current fuel economy of the G6?
Will the Aura offer a hybrid and if it does will it be rated 43 city - 37 highway?
I wonder what Wagoner and Lutz think of the 07 Camry?
GM has a long way to go and little time because once the mainstream press start to sell this Camry Hybrid then the Malibu and the G6 will look even worse then they are now.
True but there is difference. When you have the Prius missing the advertised mileage by double digits and the standard Highlander getting better mileage than the hybrid model, which also misses it target by double digits BTW, you have a right to complain. We aren't talking 3 or 4 mpg we are talking 10 or more mpg. I mean my car is rated 37mpg HWY but I usually get between 32 to 34 mpg. I can chalk that small difference up to the fact that I usually drive between 75-80mph. How can you explain the gaping differences for the vaunted Toyota Hybrids?camaro_freak said:it is hard for ANY vehicle to get the advertised mileage ...
What's the point of this post? Just because a car has a long range doesn't mean its ONLY advantage is being able to drive the entire range without stopping.mrfunji said:Maybe the car can go 700 miles on a tank, but I know on those long trips most people's bladders can't, especially if they are traveling with kids.
That really stood out to me as well. With all of the Camry's improvements, it's bread-and-butter is genuinely unimpressive, both in power and MPG. Given fuel costs, I would have thought they would have done more for their four-bangers. Maybe they're trying to push more people for the hybrid, which sounds very impressive; not so much for the MPG but for it's respectable power. On the other hand, that didn't help the Accord Hybrid much.has gained no power at all on it's main selling 4 banger model with stunning 10 second 0-60 accelleration
If that's the case, then which Toyota model does the Malibu compete with? I think the Impala squares off most closely with the Avalon, and Malibu with the Camry. (Although the Avalon's target audience is probably closer to Buick's then Chevy's).2648562 said:The Malibu is in a totally different class than the Camry IMO. Impala=Camry in my book.
I guess that some people see that as a good thing...As it's likely to continue its best-selling status, there are few other models you can buy that assure more anonymity.
An when talking base models I would bet much cheaper too. The current 06 cars look like this2648562 said:The Malibu is in a totally different class than the Camry IMO. Impala=Camry in my book.
Man I don't know. I see your point. Maybe the Corolla? Chevy has too many similiar models to compare. The Impala about equalls Toyota's size and blandness though. I agree 100% that an Avalon shopper is probably a Buick candidate though.69Firebird400 said:If that's the case, then which Toyota model does the Malibu compete with? Agreed - the Malibu is too small and low budget to be seriously considered with the CamCord. The Impala is a better fit against the Camry while the G6 and upcoming Aura are a better fit against the Accord.2648562 said:The Malibu is in a totally different class than the Camry IMO.
