The XTS WISHES it could be the DTS. The DTS was just a cool, badass car. It was outdated, outclassed, whatever, but it was just awesome. Something about it was just awesome.

Something about it...

Glad you like the XTS though. I wouldn't buy one personally. The CTS is just so much better for basically the same coin.

Yeah, I think the DTS had more road presence than the XTS has. And power with the Northstar was adequate. Once rolling it felt pretty good, actually.
I don't know if I've only seen the expensive XTS, but it has a lot of road prescence. I stayed in a very expensive Hotel this weekend and in the Valet there were 7 series, 5 series, S class, A6 and A8, and a XTS V Sport. And let me tell you, the XTS didn't look out of place at all. It looked very distinctive with the vertical taillights, it was getting a few looks too.
XTS looks expensive, but it can't hold a candle to how powerful a DTS looks going down the road, or hell, even stopped:

XTS looks like a shiny ovular potato going down the road.

DTS looks like something a villain in a movie would drive.

It's imposing. It just has a certain presence that the XTS lacks.

Even Cadillac wasn't happy with the way the XTS exterior turned out. In response to complaints from journalists and the public they promised that that final version would have a longer wheelbase to offer a more proportional, less awkward look.

The budget wasn't there and this is what we got. It's very nice but it's weird looking.
Yup. The XTS, as a vehicle, is much better than the DTS. No contest.

Exterior design? The DTS is hands down better than the XTS IMHO. No contest.
