We just got hold of new images of the 2020 Buick LaCrosse, including the first of the interior, which remains unaltered for the basic models, but has received bespoke fittings for the Avenir flagship trim. Sales of the new model will start in China on March 28. We’ve updated the article and gallery accordingly. (Update 3/25/2019).

The refreshed Buick LaCrosse for the Chinese market has been officially launched after a leak previewed the vehicle back in December.

As the first images of the LaCrosse showed late last year, the sedan takes design inspiration from the smaller Regal, which is also sold as the Holden Commodore and the Opel/Vauxhall Insignia throughout Europe. Compared to Regal, however, the LaCrosse has an even more pointed front fascia with larger headlights, additional chrome trimmings, and a hood with sharp character lines.

I must say, I like this refresh a lot. The sharper front end fits the car a lot better, and the updated interior looks great, especially the etched wood detail. Looks bespoke.

Too bad they won't be selling this here. The fact that there won't be a large sedan for sale from any GM brand outside of Cadillac in a few years is sad.

Such a nice car. When you can't sell a sedan like that, either the sedan market is dead or the brand selling it is irretrievably damaged. In this case, maybe a bit of both.

I know sales in the US suck, but if they're building and selling this in China, wouldn't it make sense to import whatever number that they can sell domestically back to the US to flesh out the Buick lineup? Building them here with such low sales is probably a financial loser, but what about as an import?

I agree 100%. I'm not an isolationist. I say build it where you sell it. 99% of GM SUV/CUV/Pickup market is in the US, so build them here.

Evision is a failure, so send it back. Try importing a low volume of the LaCrosse and see if it gets some hits. No sense in making it in more then 1 plant globally.

Bring the Blazer to the US! You're not selling a $50K unitized body SUV in Mexico or South America. Barra even said most of the Blazer parts come from the US. All GM wants to do is break the UAW.

Though I am thinking, same as the CT5, they've used CGI to take the shine off parts. I think the interior has the same glossy wood, that looks fake, that is in our Lacrosse. With the "de-glossed" CGI it looks like open poor wood, raise your hand if you think Buick is using open poor wood. My hand is not raised.

Now put this on the Omega platform with the Blackwing engine.

Omega yes.. Black Wing No. Bucks would be good for the LGW or upgraded equivalent. And while they were at it.. Give the Impala the same treatment

Never once did I see the car advertised. I doubt whether many prospective car buyers even knew it existed. Amazing to me how GM introduces new vehicles, then neglects them entirely in terms of marketing and advertising. You can bet that Toyota and Hyundai would not have made that mistake.

I would have loved one of these cars!

U guys show GM that they are making a mistake in cancelling it for the U.S. Go out RIGHT NOW.. (ta hell with their non-advertising it to U.. U know it exists..)and BUY ONE and tell your friends and associates to buy one too. Heck.. right now if I lived in Detroit or even more to the point.. worked at Detroit/Hamm.. I'd have everyone I know in one of these or Impala lickity split tryin to convince GM that there was a market for them.

I'm tripping on people saying that they would have loved one of these cars when I know for a fact that they are plentiful on lots right now. Sorry.. the changes are nice, but they're not so extensive that they would stop me from buying one of these right now. Sometimes U have to get off the sideline and buy, instead of just saying U'll buy, if U want that vehicle to be in production.

Personally with the exception to the etched wood in the interior.. I like the older model more

And that is the sad truth, I love the Lax and the Impala, I'd also love to see them continue on, they turn my head every time I see one. I would love to see GM push those cars through advertising and whatnot...but we know they won't, and it might just be more money down the drain in this market.

With all that said, am I going to run out and buy one? Highly doubtful because that's just not the type of vehicle I need at this point. So how can any non buyer, or even buyer that see's the sales be upset with GM over stopping production of this highly under appreciated car? I see myself as a future buyer maybe one day, but I'm betting by that time it won't exist on our shores by then.

Has a strong Avista influence!

I still don't think GM will every get away from the stigma of their larger sedans are for senior citizens in Florida. If you want status, you gotta put a Benz in your driveway. Uber drivers get Black Camry's or larger Tahoe's. The only time I see a LaCrosse on the road is driven by a higher level gov employee.
