The Grand Am was a god-awful mess. The only good thing about it was that it showed GM what NOT to do with the G6. Except, GM didn't fully learn the lessons, as the G6, like the Grand Am before it, is a rental fleet queen.

Further, the "hottest" Grand Am wheezed out 175 horsepower. In 2005. Let me say that again, the performance division's best Grand Am could only plop out 175hp as late as 2005. By CY2005, a Hyundai could be had with 234hp.

R.I.P. Grand Am. 17 year old big-haired blonde girls will surely grieve your passage.

Although, Chris, I do respect (and am truly shocked by) your zeal for the thing.
Well Thanks for the expressions. I am pleased to hear any suggestions about the Grand Am in the past, and also the G6 which is now here to stay.:)

Ahhh... Here are the refreshing pics of the all new Pontiac G6, the 6th Generation of the Pontiac Grand Am. Even though, it still has the same traits as the Pontiac Grand Am, but it has alot of styling fantasies and more larger over the greatest compact car (Grand Am) in Pontiac's history. The G6 comes in sedan, coupe, and even a convertible styling in which this makes it one of the best selling cars ever since it succeeded the late great Grand Am.

My, I didn't realize just how much better they are without the plastic cladding

Here are the late SE and GT models of the Pontiac Grand Am from 1999-2006 in which I imspired them by driving one of these hot babycakes around the neighborhood.
I just loved how Pontiac dropped the extra moldings on the SE and GT models and used the cleaners doors and rear bumper from the Alero.

That is correct. I think that some consumers didn't like all of the cladding around the vehicle, but I thought that make the car look so much better, and sportier with cleaner appearence and performance.

The only G6 I liked was the concept, I wish if it was built 90% like the concept.

I like the G6 a heck of allot better then the Grand Am. Maybe it is because up here in Michigan there were (still are) so many Grand Ams.

Probably true GMCSonoma... Lansing, Mi I believe built the Grand AM...another reason I see so many of them. You just get sick of seeing the same thing all the time. I rather see the Olds Achieva/Skylark then the gosh darn Grand Am. :) I liked the late 70's...early 80's version of it with it's "rubber nose"....that was a cool car...

Yeah they were one of the hottest cars from back in the 70's along with the A-platform ancestors of the Grand Prix, LeMans, Grand LeMans, LeMans Sport Coupe, GTO, Can-Am, Buick Century, and the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.

I really liked this white version when it came out - too bad it had the aweful 3.0 V6 :( - An HO Quad4 in that baby would've made it sweet :)

I owned a Red '86 Grand Am with the 2.5 Tech 4 :) - Enjoyed that car.

I liked this series as well, prob due to the Quad4 coming out in them. From here on out I didnt like the newer Grand Ams.

The G6's are a far cry better than any Grand Am I ever looked at/drove. GM did alot right but few short in some strange areas.

Anyhow - anyone remember the 'Whole Enchalida' commercial? :lmao:

Those are better looking...I like the rear windows on those coupes. Almost straight down. The whole car is squarer looking. I always liked that as well.

Since G6 arrived into the GM family back in 2005, it becoming more popular just like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, the nations top selling cars. I think that Pontiac Grand Am has made a good successor in which it makes Pontiac "Driving Excitement" or "Fuel for the Soul".

Yeah, the Quad 4 was a somewhat like a V6 engine for the Grand Am SE models, then the Tech 4 (IV) engine was standard for the LE models. When 1992 arrived, GM decided to cut the Tech IV from the Grand Am due to loud and noisy soundings, but recieved balanced shafts for upgrading back in 1991. The Quad 4 took over the Tech 4 in 1992 when GM droped the LE model from its lineup for the SE to be a standard model for the Grand Am. Even though, Grand Ams back in 1985-91 had V6 engines in SE models. GT models always had a V6 engine and sometimes the Quad 4.

at http://ultimategto.com/art33.htm they have a scan from a magazine dated from 1985 mentionning some "Grand AM GTO" prototyope, we could imagine what might had been...;)
Thanks for the info Stephane. This probably could be that the Grand Am could have stayed an A-platform vehicle and just be like the Grand Prix instead of being on the N-platform.

I think that Grand Am should be the next generation of the GTO from back then.

These hotcakes are zooomingggg!!!!. I like the style, the looks, perfomance, and appearence of them. I drove one last weekend and it was unbelievable just like the Grand Am. I also like the interior of the G6. No matter what though, I still and always like the Grand Am, it's a tradition to Pontiac.:)

The interior pic on the left is the 2006 Pontiac Grand Am, the interior pic on the right is the 2006 Pontiac G6. These 2 pics has something in common about similiar looks and styling inside these 2 unique cars. Does anyone knows which interior is the most styling between the Grand Am and the G6?

Well I'm just letting yall know....Even tho...I don't care about what you all say about a Grand Am or G6...it's your opinion on what to say. I take that back, you all can say or have negative or positive reactions about a Grand Am or G6. Let me hear about your comments, if I don't like them....then there's nothing I can say or do about it. Go ahead, say what you feel about these 2 unique cars on Pontiac's line up. Remember...it's your opinion!!!!
Are you new to the internet? :p:
