The Lexus supercar, the LF-A, is going topless. In one of the rare surprises to sneak past our auto show spies, TheCarConnection.com has learned Toyota 's luxury division will be rolling out a roadster version of the carbon-fiber and aluminum sports car concept vehicle.

Like the concept coupe, that debuted last year, the LF-A Roadster will be powered by a high-revving, 5.0-liter V-10 reportedly producing in excess of 500 horsepower, and pushing either version of the LF-A to somewhere in excess of 200 mph.

The front-mid engine configuration is used to drive the rear wheels. The V-10 is connected to a manually shiftable automatic.

It is pretty nice looking, but seems a little dated - I think it just as easily could have been designed in 2001.

Yes, it actually reminds me a lot of the Supra; in fact a redesigned Supra.

It doesnt take a genius to realize that it has one of those spoilers that pop up at speed. Cmon, use that thing inside your head(it rhymes with grain).

I don't think its ugly but its not great looking either.

Not bad looking, but certainly not stunning. I see a lot of 350Z in it myself (a car who's styling doesn't do anything for me at all).

I like it a lot, but it should be a Toyota Supra and not a Lexus.

Lexus LF A beats Porsche GT2 at Nurburgring.

The king is dead, long live the king! Lexus’ long-awaited LF-A has unofficially smashed the lap record at Germany’s Nürburgring, with a time of seven minutes, 24 seconds. That beats Porsche’s new GT2 by a second and makes the Lexus the King of the ’Ring. Company insiders have revealed that a 4.8-litre V10 – co-developed with Yamaha – powered the record-breaking test mule. It revs to 9,000rpm and pumps out 552bhp. Combined with a highly aerodynamic body, it should enable the LF-A to hit 210mph.

Was not in production trim so it doesnt really count in my eyes.

I'm disappointed. It's just not flashy enough. As a Toyota I could see this working, though.

I think Toyota is just too conservative all around, and it's hurting Lexus trying anything radical. This looks like the IS or GS. Sure, family resemblance is OK but they should push the limits.

However, they'll release this and we're all still waiting on the Cien. Sigh. Even today the Cien doesn't look dated while the LF-A concept definitely does.

Anyone see a bunch of 350z in that car? I see 350z mixed in with Toyota Supra. Bleh.
