The S10/Blazer rode more smoothly than the Tacoma/4Runner, particularly when new. The build quality of the Toyotas was absolutely phenomenal back then. I am from the south and cannot attest to the rust horror stories but in my experience, those Tacomas and 4Runners still feel like a million bucks today.

My Father built these on the Linden NJ Assembly line (RIP). The S10 & Especially the Blazer ZR2 were pretty mean machines. The six was stout and provided ample torque and they were built well aside from the early nineties GM interiors with Grey Plastic. I especially liked the column shifter and space in the center. Great Trucks. My brother had an 01 ZR2 blazer with 150k on the odometer and sold it for about $5,700.00 about 2-3 years ago. I cannot speak about the Tacomas because I have had no experience with them, however with that being said ever since the S10/Sonoma went bye bye the Tacoma has owned the class. Now though they have grown in size with a jean size of 30-32 that has gone over the years to 33-32. There is no true compact pick-up but when their was the S-10 & Sonoma were the best looking, quality built, cheap truck for a high school kid or business to purchase.

Add to that the Extreme & ZR2 were the coolest trim packs Toyota has tried with a sport xrunner and now trd pro but they havent caught that lightening in the bottle that the S-10 & Sonoma did.

I agree.

I joined in 2006 and it's changed so much since then. GM is on their game like never before, and STILL in a few "fans" eyes they can do no right.

It's maddening, because they are so far off the mark, it's not even funny anymore. GM is a completely different company now quality-wise.
Honestly a lot GMIers remind me of Randy Quaid's character from Major League 2.
