Call me crazy......but I like it. The exterior may be bland or generic.....but at least it doesn't look as porky as the CTS (esp from the back!). The gently curving greenhouse and long hood is reminiscent of the Mark VIII IMO.....

The interior is nothing to brag about, but hell......anything's better than the 300C. What's going to happen when the whole obsession w/wood hits the skids and goes out of style??

If this is supposed to replace the Town Car, then it's a damn good replacement I'd say. It also shows how far GM still has to go....the Lucerne doesn't even touch this (when the TwinForce comes into play, even the Lucerne Super won't be so 'Super' anymore) & well.....Cadillac still has yet to replace the DeVille (don't placate me with the lame alpha-numeric BS.....) with something from the 21st Century.....

It's no 7-series competitor, nor does it knock the socks off the S-Class.......Lincoln is just playing the 'traditional American luxury' game and playing it a hell of alot better than Buick.

I'm not a big fan.

1. It's even bigger than the CTS (which is already 5-series sized)
2. It's FWD
3. No optional manual transmission
4. Underpowered (34hp less than the RWD CTS)
5. Don't like the interior
6. Still almost $40k considering the above

Best front styling around.
IMHO
The new grille theme came around just in time, didn't it? I wonder if this car would get much attention if the generic, Asian looking concept front end was the one chosen for production. Now at least one can see this face and know that it is a Lincoln. All the other angles have a very Lexus/ Asian-vibe to me, but that kisser is unique.

I, for one, just love the interior.

This isn't supposed to be 'Lincoln's CTS' or anything......it's supposed to take the spot of the Town Car (I think?) and go head to head with the Lexus ES.

If Buick were owned by Ford, this is what it would look like.

I see one detail from the Jag, the rear door window trim, that's it. Nothing else on the MKS looks like a Jag. Why do some insist it is a clone of the Jag.
I agree. Where'd all this Jag stuff come from????

EDIT: Well, I just saw MGESCURO's picture post. I have to agree that at least the greenhouse apppears VERY similar to the new XF.

. Even the STS is better than this.
It should be. It starts at some $5K more than this Lincoln. And personally, I prefer the Lincolns interior.

.....But Buick will not.
Yeah, that's the rub. And while we here at GMi make a HUGE distinction between FWD and RWD, and assume that NO ONE would ever cross-shop the two, I don't believe that's true. The success of the 300 and Magnum and Charger show that people that were used to FWD managed the transition to RWD quite nicely, and it's not unreasonable to assume that some will go the other way. If the MKS is a good enough car it could compete with the CTS and/or STS. What would be nice is if Buick was good enough to tackle Lincoln though, because obviously FWD DOES compete the most directly with FWD.

I love the front-end. I hate the rear-end. The interior is... not great, and the keyfob looks incredibly cheap.

Niether does the Lexus ES or Buick Lucerene. No one considering this car will care.
Probably so. I was just stating why I'm not a fan this car (it applies to most other Lincolns too).

Cadillac is looking to outdo the Germans and Lincoln has its eye on being a better Buick. I'm probably not in Lincoln or Buicks demographic so this car doesn't really appeal to me.

The base CTS engine gives 268, the Lincoln 270.
Well, the 304hp CTS starts at $35k whereas the MKS starts at $38k.

I like it a lot. I would take this over a Lucerne CXS any day of the week.

The center console also has the Aura-like sliding roll-top covers... wish we'd made a list of people who hate them... I'd be curious to compare...

I think overall that I like the interior, but I find the dash pad odd. Why is there that cut-out in the middle, above the NAV screen? Oh, and they really have to lose the Kia Rio hatchback taillights:

There it is! I was trying to figure out which cheapie Kia model I had seen those taillights on. That is really not good.

Like the front, though.

I love it. It does exactly what it is supposed to do: replace the town car and go head to head with Buick. I dont ever remember Lincon wanting to become the 'Standard of the World' I'll take one in dark green :)

I'm impressed by this car. Not really my taste, but seems like a well done and positioned car. Definately done smarter than the Acura RL which I think is the only car that I can think of that had a similar approach. I think if the RL was priced starting at $38k to $40k it would be a great seller. Even Audi has troubles in that segment with the A6. No clue why transverse drivetrains devalue vehicles so much in this segment, but they really do seem to have that effect.
