Or the Caprice which (in it's last two guises) was actually developed specifically with that region in mind - it's been car of teh year there and top seller a few times over the last 10 years ;)
Ja. I remember when we got the rumors that we'd get that Lumina grille on the G8 and it'd be sold as a new Chevy in transition from Pontiac's death.

Americans just keep getting the short end. :( At least we get the Charger.

M/E = MIddle East
Oh thanks well I never heard that expression whatever. I don't want one from the Middle East. Probably a bomb and the Quran in it but really I want one from Oz. Sitting on the wrong side *oops* the other side of the car will puzzle many. I saw a video about the Chevy Lumina and I always heard about them. They pretty much put the American one to shame as they do to most US GM vehicles Impala included.

I would venture to guess Middle East, aka Chevy Lumina.

Yes Middle East, but I was thinking Caprice SS. But Lumina SS for those that prefer the shorter version.

Honestly Bring the commodore back over here as the Chevy Lumina it won't eat up as much Impala sales because it is a big fleet vehicle as well as private seller. GM is just not doing this because they don't want to. There is no real reason why the Commodore won't come back as the Lumina. If the Middle East has the Lumina why not us. Other than dollar exchange rate there is really nothing to stop it.

Appart from the SRT8 you can keep the CHarger - in fact i don't think we'd even get that one either - it suffers from NAitis and isnt build in RHD

If I was GM and had to take control of this right now:

First I'd rename the W-Body Impala the Classic like Chevy did with the old Malibu when the 2004 was all new; fleet sales ftw. Then we bring in the Commodore. Now you have both products for each buying set. Win-win. What a concept, right?

The Middle East ones start off in Adelaide with the rest of them.
I had an idea.... if you were a postman, maybe they could import a RHD Ute for you?

Throw the Ute in there and we are set. The key to the El Camino is marketing. They can make it a limited number vehicle similar to the GLI is to the Jetta and call it a day OR you bring the V6 and V8 models. They have to be marketed as such you can carry your things and then unload and have some fun afterwards. It's a lifestyle vehicle. You can have a 2 door V8 and you can haul stuff if need be. I really hope GMNA really gets the essence of the Ute.

LOL, I'm not sure about that though they do sell RHD Jeeps for purposes like that. In fact, you can order a Jeep straight from the factory in RHD because mil people need them for such things.

You can buy all HSVs except I think the GTS with the LPG option, but otherwise all of them just take regular Premium. LPG you used to use 20-30% more but it cost about 1/3, now it costs 1/2 but with these new LPGi systems they get virtually the same. Except for the space the tank takes up and the weight of two fuel cells, there's no downside.

I'm amazed there's not more use in the US, you guys have as much natural gas as us: no NoX, and LPGi means the traditional bugbear of hydrocarbon increase doesn't happen. And high comp motors, especially with KR-mappable ignition are best of all, because LPG is so high in octane. You can run tons of advance.
You can use LPI on the GTS, Just not the R8 Tourer.

It amazes some of us as well. There's a rich oil man by the name of T. Boone Pickens who has been pitching the increased use of natural gas as part of his Pickens Plan to help reduce US dependency on imported oil. Unfortunately, it hasn't gained a lot of traction.

Remember in MASH when Radar posted a jeep back to the US one part at a time .......there ya go. I won't tell :D

Yes but that's military and though you can bring back any vehicle back on military orders as long as you make it conform to US standards. Privately it's a pain in the *** to do such a thing.

Does AU?
Also there is a regular gasoline model as well.

As for Pickensp plan, it needs A LOT of work to be realistic and feasable. He doesn't have the technical know how to make it work. Thats why it's going nowhere.
The LPI model runs on both: LPI is an option. It adds another tank, so on a cruise you can go 600-700 miles on both tanks - more with care. You can switch between, or if you're running out on one, it cuts over the other seamlessly. A lot of modern LPG systems start and idle on petrol, and then switch to gas. They're totally integrated off the standard ECU.

All the HSVs have LPI as an option apart from the wagons.

Every Aussie petrol station except in remote locations just about has LPG - every taxi, most commercial vehicles not on diesel and a lot of private owners have it. Nearly every suburban station has LPG bowsers. You could get government rebates on it for a long time and the LPG fitting industry is well-established.
