I think GM was smart in getting out in front of the CT6 versus G90 problem. They were likely aware of what Genesis was bringing, so stating from the get go that the CT6 was not their best effort and directing attention to a yet to come CT8 was a good idea.
So making excuses is what you consider getting out in front?

To me it seems it lack little in powertrain department.
A v6 3.3 l twin turbo with 365 HP and a 5.0 v8 with 420 hp. Only two engine choice?
But at least they do offer v8 unlike some :D
How spoiled are we that 365-420HP is seen as lacking? Not every vehicle needs to pull a fifth wheel, nor a full G on the skid pad, nor run with the Germans on a road course. Those two engines line up pretty well with Cadillac's non V-Spec engines. Cadillac needs big power because they're trying to sell themselves as performance cars, it's very obvious Genesis is not.

The problem with the Equus is that the back seat was a better place to be than the front.
But I do have a thing for the K900.
There's probably somebody here you could hire as a Driver. :drive:

What this have to do with being spoiled or anything? You don't agree with my opinion ..fine..don't read it. But making comment like this don't change a thing.
You think only performance cars have to have big power nowadays? Or more than a 2 engine in lineup? This is simply not true.
Yes they are lacking compared to competition. Like it or not competition offers more than 2 engine (or better just 2 level of power). I've comment same thing about Cadillac why would i change my opinion when it comes to Genesis?

Where did I say you had a 2004 Malibu?

I was actually agreeing and reaffirming your comment, but I do find it funny that you feel it is OK for you to "bother" Envoy with your comment, but I can't "bother" you!?

Are you the only one "allowed" to have an opinion? I was merely holding up the mirror for you too look into .................

;)
If Envoy has a problem with what I said he is a big boy, he can defend himself if he chooses. Yes you have stated that I owned an 04 prior so your word twisting is relevant. End of this conversation and back to the topic at hand please.

Eh. I'm skeptical. The Equus also had a great looking interior, and look where that is.
Everyone was skeptical in 1989 about Lexus. One engine, derivative styling, couldn't handle like a Ferrari, oh whatev. While I admit Lexus blasted one down the fairway (knocked one out of the park is too pedestrian when discussing luxury automobiles, don't you think?) first try, I suspect these Korean folks aren't going to go away. If it takes two or three tries, then so be it. And when they start producing luxury CUVs, look out. High (insane) ATPs, conquest sales, halo vehicles, criminal margins. Hey! It sounds like all the things Cadillac is ignoring by not introducing ANY brand new SUV/CUVs for over a decade while the Chermans introduced new CUV after new CUV (yes I am looking at you, Audi) because "SUVs were struggling." Right, Uwe.

So on Saturday I went to the Detroit show (I have all the pictures uploaded, I just need to make a giant picture thread now), and I visited the Genesis display and found that they had two G90s available for people to sit in. People were interested in "Genesis" and the G90 and G80 (current Hyundai Genesis) had people looking at them and checking them out.

First off, this car doesn't photograph well at all. In person, proportions look very nice, the car has smooth flowing lines, and it has a nice presence overall. It doesn't look like an amorphous blob in person like you'd think it would looking at pictures of it.

Moving onto the interior, throw out EVERYTHING you know about the Equus and the Hyundai company in general; this car means business. Leather is soft, abundant, and supple, virtually everything that you can touch is covered in either leather, metal, or wood, and the attention to detail is fantastic. Even the headliner feels fantastic and of very high quality. The back seat is huge, roomy, and everything is high quality.

People can complain about how it looks like [INSERT BRAND HERE] and the interior is a rip off of [INSERT BRAND HERE], [INSERT BRAND HERE], and [INSERT BRAND HERE], but there's no denying how good of a car this is, and how well thought out it is in general. This car is a winner, and I came away really impressed. Brands like Cadillac, Lincoln, and Infiniti really need to watch their backs. This car is a real threat to them, and depending on how it's priced and how the Genesis dealership experience works (it is supposed to share a showroom with Hyundai), the brand could really flourish in the United States. Genesis, well done. The G90 is a great car.

Oh, and before anyone asks, yes, this car's interior absolutely blows the CT6's away.

Can you do a CT6 review please? This is a GM forum, thank you.

Here you go:

1.) There's cheap black plastic everywhere.
2.) The leather quality on the dash isn't good enough.
3.) The leather quality on the door isn't good enough.
4.) The wood grain trim, while real, looked fake.
5.) Hard plastic galore on lower trim panels.
6.) Backseat is a total joke compared to the competition both in features and attention to detail.
7.) Switchgear felt cheap and wiggled, but it's an IVER, so that may change, so the benefit of the doubt reluctantly goes to them in this case. They'll fix the wiggling hopefully, but the switchgear didn't feel solid or expensive enough to belong in a car that goes up against the top of the line sedans it competes against.
8.) Carpet wasn't thick enough.
9.) Rear seatback had Rubbermaid quality plastic at best.
10.) The front seat control area looked grotesque and felt hilariously cheap with all that cheap black plastic and horribly cheap feeling switchgear.
11.) Air vents are in the absolute worst place they could possibly place them. An ergonomic disaster that directs air at your hands and lower neck, not your face.
12.) The hard plastic on the center console's surrounding wouldn't look out of place in a Sonic.
13.) The door lock pin was cheap. Again, attention to detail just isn't there.
14.) On CT6 models without the higher end sound systems, there's just black filler plastic in place of the speaker. Looks and feels as cheap as you can imagine it would look and feel.
15.) I don't care for the entire interior design at all (this one is subjective).

Just a disaster of an interior overall. They won't be taken seriously with an interior like that, which is too bad, considering how nice looking the CT6 is on the outside. A waste of a nice design if you ask me. As a friend and customer of mine who works as an Engineer for Cadillac said, "This interior is a disaster. You can tell where we spent our money on this car.".

I can go on for a lot longer if you'd like, but do you get a general idea on the severity of the situation now?

Good for Hyundai. Still I would take the CT6 1.000 times over this, but that's me.
That's fine. Different strokes for different folks. CT6 will likely have superior driving dynamics, while G90 delivers a more luxurious and high quality interior.

You're catching on, Ed! New roolz for the New Age! :1eye:

I usually overlook insults unless I've had a really bad day, so that's why I didn't respond. :)

And don't forget the light weight!!

You posted a G90 review before a Continental review?! You're going the right way for a smacked bottom...
Continental wasn't unlocked for people to sit in.

But the new E Class? I think there aren't enough superlatives to describe that car. Incredible vehicle.

Sounds about right...at least your consistent.
I call 'em like I see 'em.

Too bad Cadillac didn't have the balls to have a CT6 to have the public sit in and judge compared to the rest of the competition.

Meh I think the CT6 would still decimate this in the end.
CT6 will have a price and name advantage (if you really value Cadillac as a brand that is), but as a vehicle, the G90 is leaps and bounds better.

Looks nice.

Until they find a purpose for the brand, Genesis is doomed to be another Infiniti.
Slow but sure, incremental increases. This is a LOOOOONG game they're playing, and I'm not sure how else they can do it. You can't create a strong luxury brand (or strong brand, period) by snapping your fingers, so the only way is to constantly and consistently improve your product, marketing, customer treatment, and dealership experience. Go back 20 years and tell someone there will be a 60k Hyundai for sale and they'll ask how Excels will come in the pack.

Give them time. Genesis doesn't even have a full lineup yet.

But as a vehicle, this car is better than every single Infiniti for sale put together.

Strange, over on FIN someone posted pics from inside a Continental! There were a few different ones, were they just closed the day you were there?
Really? You sure it wasn't from a press day?
