Re: BREAKING: GM Outlines Strategic Plan; Wants 4 Platforms By 2025, "Customers For L

Are these going to include Cadillac?
Yes absolutely. Cadillac will most likely be the one that develop the RWD platform.

Re: BREAKING: GM Outlines Strategic Plan; Wants 4 Platforms By 2025, "Customers For L

4 Platforms will be and I'm just speculating:

1. Small to mid-sized cars/CUVs
2. Large cars/CUVs
3. Trucks and SUVs
4. All RWD cars/SUVs

I'll receive information on this in the coming weeks
Where do the Trucks fit with all of this, do you think?

trucks and pickups will continue on same platform- just like now. CUV platform will obviously be FWD based

In the presentation the Anthem is confirmed (not by name) and it appears that the next gen Malibu is very close. They mention anticipated volumes for the next gen Cruze and Malibu in 2016 which indicated the new Malibu will be in production next year. They also mention new full size truck entries into the market. Cant imagine what that means.

You know there's only thing missing............. What about the Corvette C7/C8 platform???

On the RWD platform. It will make no sense financially for the Corvette to have its' own platform anymore.

Yes the trucks and SUVs will continue as it is now, and of course with upgrades to the platform and probably a name change.

they are saying these new platforms are very flexible which means that a RWD sports car can likely be created from the RWD VSS. Im sure they are not planning to drop the vette.

If the C8 Rumors are true:
Not sure if a Mid Engined car can ride on a front engine platform. Their platform is modular, but not that modular.

I think they'd be fine w/ a 5th platform for sports cars. MB and Porsche have a separate platform for their Mid Engine RWD vehicles.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens.

If the car platforms are as outlined, I suspect that the FWD platform would cover A-C classes (sub-compact to the smaller mid-sized) and the RWD would mostly be C and above. If so, large Epsilon cars might shift to RWD/AWD platforms, which given what we've seen in terms of say the Impala vs Zeta in terms of weight and interior space, might make sense.

4 new Cadillac models on 2015?? Omega, SRX, and what else???

Re: BREAKING: GM Outlines Strategic Plan; Wants 4 Platforms By 2025, "Customers For L

Wow, all of my concerns have already been addressed.

If Cadillac can pull off a RWD platform that can accommodate a full-size flagship and a RMR supercar, more power to them.

Re: BREAKING: GM Outlines Strategic Plan; Wants 4 Platforms By 2025, "Customers For L

Still not convinced that the vette is included in this list of 4 platforms, and will continue to be a "5th". To me it seems like this is more for "volume" cars.

Re: BREAKING: GM Outlines Strategic Plan; Wants 4 Platforms By 2025, "Customers For L

In the presentation its:
1. FWD Cars
2. RWD Cars
3. Trucks
4. CUV's (they don't specify RWD or FWD)
the first power point talks about "regional" also so I assume the VETTE is under that heading

and generally CUV implies FWD as I assume a RWD type would fall under "truck"

I also believe GM is envisioning "tool sets" NOT platforms as we know them so the heading "truck" for example can include chassis that are size/capability un related BUT share same suspension/PT mounting points /SYSTEMS ETC

I believe this being an "investor" focused presentation and NOT a consumer one that are NOT mentioning electrification OR other future PT plans as they are NOT money spinners NOW
but they DO show a plugged in car while talking about "green tech"
