GM Dealership Closing List (Updating Constantly)

Notice:

GMI staff is in the process of compiling a NEW list of the dealership closings. This list will ONLY have dealerships that are CONFIRMED to be closing. Confirmation means that there is a third party NEWS ARTICLE stating the dealership name and location with regards to it closing!

Please do not bother posting a dealership closing unless you can CONFIRM the closing through a third party source or privately with the GMI staff (such as a copy of the letter with dealership name or other applicable information).

Also, please do not bother posting that this list is wrong. Nowhere have we stated that it is the "OFFICIAL" list. I'll deem it inaccurate right now. The NEW LIST will be the official.

Thanks,

Nsap

Dealer Employees: Is GM Closing Your Dealership? Post it Here.

Replaced with a master running list. Please know that this list is completely unofficial and has been gathered mostly from media reports or from postings from employees.

If you are posting that a dealership in your area has announced it's on the closing list please offer the following information in the following format for expediency sake.

Dealership Name, Brands offered, City, State, Zip.

Please make sure to capitalize the dealers name as well as the brands sold and location information. It helps with formating and legibility.

Thank you for your cooperation.

The List... (so far).

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

Looks like we're put off again.

Automotive News-General Motors CEO Fritz Henderson says the automaker will start notifying it's dealers "a bit later" this week on it's plan to eliminate about 2700 dealerships by 2010. "That specific plain is being finalized here early this week, and we'll begin notifying dealers later this week", Henderson told reporters during a weekly conference call this morning. 10:39am U.S. ET/May 11.

GM can't even pass out pink slips on time. Holy crap.

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

Why don't they just tell us who is staying and who is going and be done with it. Everyone is just on pins and needles to see if they have a job or should start looking for a new one. I work for a dealership and everyone is in a daze. Not good for business.

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

Look at it this way ! How many Dealers do you really think are going to tell there employees?
I wouldn't would you? These Dealers are going to want to try to make some money as little as it may be these days until the end.If word gets out to soon it will only make there Business much worse. This is why hopefully someone will leak a full list out. Then we will all know and not depend on some one(Dealer) who most likely is not going to say anything until the bitter end !!!!!!!!!

The Dealers will be worried about being paid any GM Incentives. They are going to say "Let concentrate on the used lot Boy's"

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

Don't kid yourself.

The dealers will find out who is and isn't going to be in business. Those who will stay in business will spread the word on those who won't trying to get more business for themselves.

Might as well get it out in the open right now.

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

I hope the list comes out soon. Every day is a bad day according to the media. We should all stop watching the news and reading the newspapers and maybe they will get the hint. LET's start talking about good things.

The "good things" are years away, I am afraid.

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

Our dealership isn't going anywhere but the other two stores have good reason to be stressed out. There is a great deal of debate around town about which of them on it's way out. Frankly, it's a tough call. The lowest volume store is also the oldest building on the smallest lot and it's already going to be loseing it's Hummer Franchise but it's a Wheaton store and a lot of guys around here are not sure if GM will pull the plug forceably against any of Wheaton's stores.
The other one is independantly owned, on a much larger piece of land, it's building is the newer one of the two Chevy stores and they have been doing renos all winter to update it further. Combine that with the fact that they have been selling almost 2:1 more then Wheaton's Chevy dealership...

where is the Wheaton store....I work for a new one in Prince George BC...

we are not closing but our sister PBG, is merging with us so well will hav all lines and we are losing our hummer as well, which is crap the H3T is doing V well...needed this 4 years ago....

Anyhow, ya Wheaton is a tough call, I mean they have more $$ then GM right now....**** they gots their own bank for crying out loud...

my vote is for the non wheaton, but they would prolly make them update the Wheaton store...

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

Right now all we can do is wait. Gm is very tight lipped on the list of dealerships that they are going to terminate. All we can do is speculate right now on who is staying and who is going. Our logic is not always GM'S logic. If somebody has the list let's see it.

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

On one of the business shows this morning someone said that 50% of Chrysler's dealerships account for 90% of their sales. Are GM dealerships the same way? If so, maybe there should be some consolidation.

I think I heard somewhere that about 500 or GM stores sell less than 50 cars a year. All of these stores are likely to be shut down.

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

My local Chevy (of all GM brands) store, Kelley Chevrolet of Hallandale Beach, closed down just days ago.

This article gives a good perspective of the dealerships situation in my neck of the woods.
Your from south florida. Ever hear of the craig zinn auto group? What kind or reputation do they have?

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

Here where I live, in the Panhandle of Texas, 15000 souls here and only one new car dealer here, and it is a GM dealership, sells all brands of GM. Nearest one to us is 35 miles away, I hope they don't close this one. There is no Ford dealer here or Dodge, just Country Chevy. If GM makes it you can get it here. Have purchased my last 4 vehicles from them amd my new Malibu was from them also...so last 5 from them, great folks!!!

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

Most of the dealers have probably already received their letters. However, I doubt they will tell the employees until the very last minute.

Nope.
The only ones that know for sure are the stand alone pontiac dealerships.
Dealer Zone Reps are going to hand deliver the letters "soon", as of yesterday.

Who are they going to hand them out to? Are the dealerships that receive the letter staying or going? Or when you get a visit are you gone or staying? Does anybody know?

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

We spoke to our zone rep this morning and asked what he knew. He said he has no idea he was calling to let us know to consensus for the week. He is like us he would like to know and there was no way he would want to hand deliver the letter.

Ours wasn't looking forward to it either. He was still pulling for the use of a currier service or registered mail. He said EVERYONE would get a letter, some good, some... well... You know.

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

any of you guys know how to find the SIR score or something like that? On globalconnect? this is a score out of 100 that shows how you are meeting the critera for clipping stores IE your sales CSI and capital etc all rolled in to one score. Im told ours is 92 out of 100 but I cannot find it on dealerworld.

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

Can any one explain how closing or leaving dealerships open effects GM? Dealers are an independent business. GM owes them money for rebates, the dealer pays floor plan and other fees. GM collects rent for the signage, gm collects rent for the use of autobook and other internet services. GM makes money on parts, catalogs etc. How does closing them and loosing income effect GM? I dont understand this mentality.

they have a distorted view that if they have less dealers in an area, the values of their vehicles will go up. thats it in a nutshell. they have been wanting to do this for years. i dont know if you remember a thing called 'project 2000' back in the mid nineties. it was basically their marketing idea going forward. they were going to merge their brands, dump the brand names and just end up with a GM brand. they are well on their way to doing that.

coincidentally, one of the main things that they wanted dealers to do under the 'project 2000' was to take on a uniform 'modern' appearance for each gm dealership. it just so happens that the 'modern appearance' is a criteria in this newest scorecard for the dealers that will be closed.

Re: Dealership Closing List (letters)

Yeah got ours pulled up the latest report from DEC is a 92. but that was because of a few bad CSI scores and bad winter month profits. We are on average a 140.
