Back on topic, those pictures of the Continental look good. I would prefer a different design for the wheel, but that's just me & can be fixed easily. Just as long as the leather on those seats are as soft as a baby's bottom.
Agreed. When I saw it at the autoshow I was impressed, looked better than I was expecting. I don't think its "all the way there" yet, but its a pretty darn good effort. Its the first Lincoln I have been impressed with, gives me hope the Navigator will take a big step forward.

my penchant is to think the French prounciation is the correct one :D
Maybe his sample (which I'm guessing wasn't that big) wasn't correct.

My own hunch would be that the family name properly pronounced would have the true "l" sound of ville, mille as opposed to the "y"-ish sound of fille, bille. It's not very possible to tell (both could exist) just based on the look of the word.

Edit: just looked it up and Paul's actually correct.

(Which, amusingly, means that absolutely everybody in Quebec pronounces it the "wrong" way... in spite of our current French being much much closer to 1600s and 1700s French than theirs!)

Why on earth would you want to DX Escalade?
I had initially brought it up as an example of what NOT to do, my hope was that people would've realized that alphabet soup model names aren't better than actual names...

Just imagine, back in the day when every new Ford model had a name starting with F, suggesting that the next Mustang be renamed too in order to fit into the new naming scheme -- and then some Ford fans would proceed to agree!

Of course you don't mess with the Escalade name. No alphabet soup name could match it. Conclusion? A REAL good name is better.

Final product still looks good though even if it's not as impractically low as the concept car. Production car's height is 58.5", just 0.3" taller than a Ford Fusion and 0.6" lower than the XTS.

Holy crap it looks fantastic in that shade of red and grey. Didn't like it much in white but damn I love it in those two darker colors.

Have you had the opportunity to fondle the Black Label leather??

OMG !!!! Quite simply, it is amazing. I think Black Label is easily worth the money, just for the leather alone. Add in the Revel stereo, and I would spend more time in my car than in my house. :D

Does Lincoln have the "new look" out for sale yet? Are people counting on it to sell well in the future?
For a large car that is compromised in several ways playing a SWB full-size sedan with a mid-size luxury price tag, if Lincoln can manage 1,500 units a month here in the States, I consider it a success. And I am being too generous for this car's potential despite of how I feel about it.

Up 17% YTD, up 20% last month, up around 10% last year after around 10% the year before... but Lincoln couldn't be any LESS on a track to the grave, this couldn't be more simple to see.
You keep harping on Lincoln up and Cadillac down, yet not smart enough to figure out that the reason Lincoln is up is because they have 4 SUVs (3 mostly updated recently) vs. 2 SUVs for Cadillac. Lincoln's car sales are down just like Cadillac which is not a surprise.

Cadillac will have few more SUVs in the future and they will be in a similar situation where Lincoln is at now going up and nothing but up unless there is a shift from SUV to cars again. I predict sales will be flat for Cadillac this year, here in the States, while sales will increase globally. I also predict Lincoln will increase this year in the States and China.

FiN just heard today that some dealers have started receiving the 2017my MKZ
A friend of mine is a Lincoln salesman. They received their first 2017 MKZ about a week ago:

You won't be disappointed then. The current MKX, especially in Black Label trim, has some of the softest leather I've ever felt. Really nice stuff.

Ditto.

:yup:

Whoever is in charge of exterior colors at Lincoln really needs a raise.

That red is especially beautiful. Hands down one of the nicest colors I've seen on a production car.

I agree.

Black Label leather is VERY nice. Revel is icing on the cake!

I like the blue leather option for Continental, has anyone see this in the flesh?

Also, heard a rumor that some '17 MKZs have already been delivered to dealers...
Haven't seen the blue in person, but it's pretty dope in pictures:

Definitely would like to see it in person.

for some reason I have the feeling the Name was Gascoygne...
Link: yup-sorta/close

maybe the Quebecois are leaning towards american pronunciation in this case?

No luck on the interior though, sorry. :(

Is that the right one?

Nope, that's the production car's interior. The whitish trim on the dash and center console is different than the concept's chrome:

Also note the door button on the picture I posted.

Production Blue also seems to have a bit more depth to it IMHO.

I don't think I've seen Vineyard. Do you know what colors it has, or its general theme?

I'd guess earth tones with some green mixed in?

We can all agree/disagree on how appropriate CD4 is for a Lincoln of this stature, but you'd have to be a fool to not recognize how far Lincoln has come from it's pre-second gen MKZ days! I can't wait to see what they do with D6!!

That red is nice, but the Conti looks best in plain old white!!

afaik NO ONE outside of Lincoln AND people who got into the Owners' Lounge at the NYC autoshow
has seen Vineyard yet (they had a Z there with it but
most the time the NYC car was locked & in dim lighting)...

I have ONE exterior foto @FiN I found on fb where you can barely see a headrest...

[Vineyard] is supposed have (some?) "dark, rich red" in it and use the same perforation pattern as [Chalet/Destination] - I think it's a replacement for [CenterStage]

Interesting to see how a small thing like a real name can create a real passion for a vehicle. You WANT the engineers and designers feeling connected to what they're working on, and while the name alone won't guarantee success, it sounds like it went a long way already to ensuring the Continental didn't end up PowerPointed to within an inch of its life like the MKS.
Agree

Think the name had a lot to do with the early order deposits the Continental has generated.
