I like the SRX, and the X5 and M-Class are over $50,000 so price isn't why it sells. I think it is just not as trendy or country club wealthy image like a BMW or Mercedes is. 10 years from now Cadillac will be what BMW is now, and Mercedes will be like Buick, a car for 65 year olds.

I think a little more agressive front end to make the SRX look a little more tough and trucky would help, it has a bit of a tall station wagon look to it as it is now, that might hurt sales some.

Which is why Cadillac can't price the SRX that high no matter how good it is. The image just isn't there yet.

"Some"?
That is the reason it does not sell (not to mention the early pricintg snafu that nailed the coffin).

The wife of a collegue was scheduled to take delivery of her SRX last week (picked out by her husband). When she saw it she said "Yikes! A station wagon???? No way. Wound up in a G35.

Question: I really like these and would certainly consider it for a family hauler, but here's something I don't understand. How do you actually use the roof rack on these when there's no place to stand on the back bumper? We use a car top carrier for vacations and I'm always standing on the back bumper to load and unload the thing. Insights?
I always just open the rear door and stand on the sill to load my Thule, of course that opens to the side so it depends on what box you have. I've only stood on the bumper to install it.

Where did the recent American prejudice against wagons come from? Was half the country traumatized in one as a child? You would think the snob appeal of BMW, Benz, Audi, Volvo, VW being the only ones available in this country would overcome it. If the Europeans love them, they have to be good, right?

I gather the minivan stigma is a macho thing. I predict a backlash against SUV's and giant wheels with rubber band tires. Bring back 14" wheels and wide whitewalls!

Shows how much she knows about cars.
I wish most buyers weren't the lowest common denominator like her. We'd have much better cars overall.
On the other hand, it does need restyling, and should be next in line:

I hope it gets Art & Science 2.0 like the 2008 CTS.

Few people own those, and giant tires almost universally look better than small ones.

Wagons are the most ill-proportioned of all the types of cars there are out there.
That is why they are reviled.

I really like seeing a real analog clock in there too. I get tired of digital clocks.

What does SRX4 mean? 4 means?

Came very close to leasing one of these and the new interior is very nice as well as the sky view roof. The Yukon won out because of the size and it actually leased a little better because of a much better residual value. The SRX drove great though and I would whole heartedly recommend it!

All Wheel Drive?

I can't wait for Cadillac to have it's BEST 5 trucks. If things go the way it should, the Silverado/Sierra and the SRX should win. Of course if the SRX wins, it'll be the 4th time in a row.
Silverado wins, SRX doesn't. Mercedes GLwhatever is the best luxury SUV. I was suprised. Considering how much C/D loved the SRX I thought they would love it even more now but I guess not. At least the Tundra didn't win best pick-up.

Three years ago I did an advanced driver training course and guess what they used -- V8 SRX's. I was *shocked* at how aggressively we could push these cars through slalom, skidpad, panic brake and turn maneuvers and the SRX remained completely calm and unflappable, even with 4 people on board. Behind the wheel, you totally forget you're driving an SUV; the SRX's the great handling, braking and stability inspires confidence that you can extract yourself out of any situation you encounter on the road.

Plus, the wail of a Northstar V8 at full throttle is such delicious sweet music. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to buy one, especially with the new interior.

I've always found the SRX to be cramped, stuffy looking, cheaply made, and worthless on the inside. It is overpriced by 50% and there are better vehicles elsewhere. For the life of me I cannot figure out what Cadillac is trying to do with this waste of time.

I agree it's a great vehicle, but $48k does seem pretty steep
