If Cadillac can have their own engines, why can't they do their own brakes?

Granted, their own engines are corporate with TT, but seriously, how hard is it to design a proprietary brake system, instead of outsource to Brembo all the time? They have a few decades experience, yet they phone it in.

If you can't handle the little things, how well are you doing the big things?

It's meh.
Something inherently wrong with Brembos? MUCH more expensive to design and manufacture your own. Why fix what ain't broke? GM spent 25 years trying to meet industry standard on brakes until they wised up.
Not time to revisit those days.

Half the internet is asking WHY Cadillac is still selling the XTS. It's Cadillac's best selling car. Why would they kill it?
Exactly.

Half the Internet also thinks every car needs 700 HP and a Nurburgring lap time.

That half is usually completely out of touch with what actual consumers want.

But how will it look with the inevitable whitewalls and vinyl roof?
My wife will have the Vogue Custom Built Radials.
The ride quality those tires deliver is sublime.

The darker colors make it look so much better.

The ass is phenomenal, front looks good, interior is still okay (I think it's better than CT6 in a lot of aspects), and overall it's a good update.
I've always thought, that proportions aside, the XTS is a better styling job than the current CTS. If they had used the styling themes of the XTS for the CTS I think sales would be much better. The XTS was a car with styling in search of a better and more worthy platform.

This pic is showing off that front-wheel driver POWAH!
Well if it's a VSport (not sure) it's showing off AWD POWAH! Oh, and with + 400hp it certainly isn't lacking POWAH!

Checking the rear shot of that blue car and it's AWD. It might have A VSport badge on the top right part of the trunk, but on my iPhone it's hard to make out.

That pic makes it look like the front wheels are spinning faster than the rears. At least to me.

I'm guessing the 1.1" that it's shorter, came out of the rear bumper? This car could have been so much better on Lacrosse's longer WB.
Half inch on either side, probably. A nip and tuck.

Half the internet is asking WHY Cadillac is still selling the XTS. It's Cadillac's best selling car. Why would they kill it?
Because it's priced like a CTS and sized like a CT6.

I don't know what the best thing for them would be, and I've waffled. Can it stick around? It can't with CTS and CT6. One of those three has to go, and any way you slice it, CT6 needs to grow in price and size to give anything beneath it room to breath or to be able to justify its own existence.

If XTS goes, CT6 needs a price bump because there's too much overlap on CTS (or CTS needs to lower its pricing, which presents its own problems).
If CTS goes, CT6 needs to be bigger and offer a higher-end experience to put some air between it and XTS.

Best move for Cadillac is probably a Lexus-like strategy, as in Lexus's likely future strategy.

Kill CTS, keep XTS, grow ATS and give it a coupe/cab, keep and grow CT6 with higher end variants, bring in higher end coupe. A CT6-L wouldn't be a bad idea.
Keep Escalade, bring in another Escalade-branded BOF like GX, keep XT5, bring in an "XT5-L," bring an "NX" in XT4, and a "UX" in XT2.

Sports car because you can draw upon your resources at greater GM.

It's a 3.6L designation, not a Vsport.

That's projection, because it's impossible to tell and likely done through CG.

We had a rental XTS a few months ago. Not my thing and I'm 30 years too young for one but I thoroughly enjoyed my time in her. Beautiful car, I can see why they sell. Great value.

My local dealer has told clients they would put CDs on a memory stick for them if that was a stumbling block to buying a Caddy.
People here fixate on transmission gears which doesn't really bother me. I just think does it shift well and if you have been doing it for a while it will be more dependable. Now what I find shocking is that people still use CDs! I haven't used one of those in over 10 years+. I mean load up a USB with thousands of songs categorized in folders or stream it Bluetooth.

As said before Cadillac fixed my main issue that sloping grill....yuck! My only other issue with the XTS was the long truck over hang. Out side of those two thing the car is solid and I never understand why people bash it. I just think they are old fashioned and hate FWD cars. Now what the XTS has to worry about is that new Continental.

The more I look at the Continental, the less I like it. The interior is kind of a bling-fest and tacky, and the XTS interior is to my eyes shows restraint and class. I love that black and tan interior of the XTS in the press shots.

Have patience. XT4/XT6 will be here before you know it. Hopefully next summer is the XT4 on sale date, and not just the reveal. If it's the on sale date, then possibly we'll see it at L.A. or Detroit. If that's the case perhaps Cadillac reveals the XT6 in April 2018 at the NY show. The Cavalry is coming, The Cavalry is coming.
What? I've asked on this website for a 3 row CUV from Cadillac since 2009. When the new SRX came out and was only two rows. I was ridiculed here and told the Escalade fit the bill. It doesn't.

"before you know it" came and went 8 years ago and counting.

I am not a vehicle expert, but 8 years ago I knew what people wanted and where the industry was headed. Those tired excuses went away 8 years ago.

I owned 3 Cadillacs starting in my mid-late 20's. Cadillac's dream to get a 27 year old with 2 Cadillacs in the driveway. I've moved on from Cadillac.

And now for what was not said or explained very well in this article-

Trim Levels, Features & Equipment
Deletion of Premium Luxury V-Sport (1SK) trim level
This leaves the XTS Platinum as the only trim to offer the AWD V-Sport Twin Turbo engine
Deletion of five LPO accessories:
(PCN) Summer/Winter Mat Package
(PCP) Protection Package
(WCN) CD optical drive
(VYW) Premium carpeted floor mats
(VRV) Body-color molded splash guards

Exterior
New front end appearance, including new:
HoodFenders
Front fascia
Grille
LED headlamps
New rear end appearance, including new:
Decklid
Decklid applique
CHMSL (Center High-Mounted Stop Lamp)
Rear fascia
LED taillamps
Deletion of two exterior colors:
Red Passion Tintcoat
Deep Amethyst Metallic
Addition of two exterior colors:
Stone Gray Metallic; available at extra charge, no additional charge on Platinum or Platinum V-Sport
Red Horizon Tintcoat; available at extra charge
Replacement of Adaptive Forward Lighting and High Intensity Discharge headlamps with LED headlamps as standard on all models
Replacement of 19-inch all-season tires with a new set that:
Improves ride comfort
Reduces tire rolling noise
Provides quieter cabin
Deletion of four wheel options:
(Q6M) 19″ aluminum wheels with premium paint and chrome inserts
(REH) 19″ aluminum wheels with premium painted finish
(RT9) 19″ polished aluminum wheels (was standard on Premium Luxury)
(RQ9) 20″ aluminum wheels with polished finish and chrome inserts
Addition of four new wheel options:
(Q7W) 19″ Pearl Nickel premium paint aluminum with chrome inserts; same wheel design as 17MY (Q6M), but with new paint finish; replaces (Q6M)
(RUI) 19″ Sterling Silver premium paint finish aluminum (Standard on Luxury only); replaces (REH)
(Q94) 19″ polished aluminum (Available on Luxury only). (Q94) wheel has same design as wheel (RUI), but with polished finish instead of premium paint finish
(Q7J) 20″ Ultra Bright machined aluminum with premium paint finish (Standard on Platinum only); replaces (RQ9)
Addition of 20-inch cast aluminum wheels with premium painted finish as standard on Premium Luxury
Addition of Cadillac Crest badges on front fender
Addition of exterior decklid opening switch incorporated in the Cadillac Crest emblem
Addition of front cornering lamps standard on Premium Luxury and Platinum model
Revision of grille lineup:
Special grille on XTS (base), Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels
Custom grille on Platinum trim level
V-Sport grille on Platinum V-Sport Twin Turbo

Interior
Deletion of one interior color combination:
(AFE) Medium Titanium with Jet Black accents
Addition of two interior color combinations in place of two previous ones:
Jet Black with Chevron perforated inserts on Platinum and Platinum V-Sport Twin Turbo models replaces Jet Black with Light Wheat accents
Maple Sugar with Jet Black accents with Chevron perforated inserts on Platinum and Platinum V-Sport Twin Turbo models replaces Light Platinum with Dark Urban/Cocoa accents
Change in Shale with Cocoa accents interior color combination to Shale with Jet Black accents
Changes in pairing of interior color with decorative molding:
Jet Black – Open Pore Graphite Sapele wood trim
Shale with Jet Black accents – High Gloss Natural Ash wood trim
Jet Black – High Gloss Lineate wood trim
Maple Sugar with Jet Black accents – High Gloss Ebony Lineate wood trim

Chassis & Ride
Deletion of Magnetic Ride Control as available feature on XTS (base) and Luxury trim levels
Deletion of rear air springs automatic level control as available feature on XTS (base) and Luxury trim level
Improved 19- and 20-inch tire design that, according to Cadillac:
Improves ride comfort
Reduces tire rolling noise
Provides quieter cabin
Note: the 20-inch tire retains same RPO Code (RAL) but also features new tire design
Improvement in chassis for greater occupant comfort
Dimensions
Changes in exterior dimensions:
Overall height increases from 59.1″ to 59.4″
Overall length decreases from 202″ to 200.9″

So the lower trim levels of base and luxury lose availability of rear air springs and magnetic ride control option. All but the Platinum lose one interior color combo of Titanium and jet black and two color combos are traded for two different ones. Also note that in order to get the 3.6 TT engine you must now spring for the top V-Sport Platinum trim which currently starts at 73690! The CD optical drive goes bye bye along with 4 other LPO accessories, Cue 3.0 replaces the previous version, the exact same drivetrain that was offered during 2012 is here for 2018 with the old LFX engine and 6 speed transmission. Besides that it's the usual technology shuffling and upgrades, revised exterior as already noted and improvements in seat and ride comfort. If they wanted to improve ride comfort they should have made 18" tires std and reserved the 19's and 20's for those that like a stiff noisier ride! And shame on Cadillac for not swapping out the old dated 6 speed for the newer 9 speed transaxle as used in the less expensive LaCrosse. That would have more than likely improved mileage and low end response.

Best move for Cadillac is probably a Lexus-like strategy, as in Lexus's likely future strategy.
Except for the beating the crap out of 'em with an ugly stick part.

Deletion of Magnetic Ride Control as available feature on XTS (base) and Luxury trim levels
Deletion of rear air springs automatic level control as available feature on XTS (base) and Luxury trim level
These were the things that really made an XTS worth buying vs. a Impala/LaCrosse.
