Priced the L with "options" [none]. The standard equipment was more than enough for my purposes, even with no automatic available. For that you had to go to an LS and $3000 more in price. Quite a jump just to get the automatic [ of course that also includes 4 wheel discs, aluminum wheels and other stuff ]. Top of the line LTZ, $25,000.

If Chevy is really wanting to charge more for the new Cruze, they may be hedging their bets keeping the last gen Cruze around to blunt the sticker shock and keep the customer in the showroom.

Not sure the prices of these new cars justify dumping a perfectly good trade in to have the newest thing. Something has got to give or we'll all be paying $25,000 [24999] for a Chevy Spark.

My pick would be the 1LT auto in titanium with same interior. Add the convenience pkg. and RS pkg., trunk mat and net and it comes to $22515. That seems pretty close to what a '15 came in at. Add leather for the 2LT and it costs me $2665 more. Not really a bad deal and on a nice looking car that should prove pretty reliable. :)

I still think its funny, at Ford Limited means 10-grand more, at GM it means yesterday's breakfast, "on-sale" get it before it is gone!
GM must be trolling Ford

There is a lot of price gap between the current LTZ Cruze and the Focus Titanium and Mazda 3S. Both of those can be run up to more than $31K and the LTZ can barely crest $27K. Motor Trend just closed out their long-term 2014 Mazda 3S test. That vehicle was over $31K new and they positively gushed over it despite a back seat they admit is for car seats and small children only (and makes the Cruze look like a limo by comparison) and some annoying tech glitches over its test period. I guess great handling does get car mag kudos after all, despite some other flaws.

The old Cruze as a Limited model is still head and shoulders above the pack and if they can sell it with a few thousand dollars savings it should prove to be a winner. I bet those fleet LT1's will be under $19K delivered with fleet incentives. If the retail versions can settle around $20K, that could hit a sweet spot. Toyota sells a ton of crap Corollas on the low price (and rumored reliability).

Top notch reliability for Corolla isn't a rumor. Both the current generation (E160) and previous generation (E150) cars sold in the U.S. market consistently had above average reliability scores.

Cruze, by comparison, has among the lowest reliability ratings in its class. At least for the gasoline powered model (I don't know how Cruze 2.0TD would rank due to insufficient data).

i liked the honey comb grille front end better, the horizontal slots are too formal looking. glad GM is trying to old trick of keeping older models in production with the cruze, its a nice car. will be great on the used market later and for more parts for owners.

Looked at a bunch of '16s on the lot yesterday. Interestingly, there is no "limited" badging on it anywhere...
