I purchased my 2015 Silverado Crew Cab Short Box LTZ in mid-May 2015. After a few days of driving, the mileage calculators on the trip odometer pages of the DIC (not the instant econ page) was registering just under 21 mgg in travel to work and back. On the highway, it would come in a bit over 21. I thought I had the best of all worlds--a vehicle that I could haul if I needed and still decent mileage compared to other smaller SUV-type vehicles. Not to mention, in late July, on a 2400 mile trip from Indiana to Michigan to Georgia and back, I was averaging 21.2 mpg.
In mid-August, I took my truck in for my first free oil change. At that time, they also downloaded an update to my satellite radio, and checked the transmission for errors related to a few very hard shifts I had. After the oil change, my mileage has dropped 1-3 mpg under the same driving conditions. (I am the only driver.) Travel to work is lucky to break 19. Highway mileage is in the mid-18 range. Not to mention, simply pulling away from a stop sign will cause the calculation on the trip meter pages to drop 0.2-0.4 mpg. It never did that before unless I stomped on it. Also, the "recovery" of that loss now takes 15+ miles, whereas before it would take only a few.
I have talked to my service manager several times. The main "explanation" is that they may have accidentally reset the Instant Econ page on the DIC. That does not make sense since that page is only for the last 50 miles. Now that it is October, he is blaming the drop on the "winter gas". I have never had a vehicle, including a 2007 Avalanche, that reacted to the "winter gas" like this.
I am only asking to get back what I had. I am not asking to make it do something outrageous like 30+ mpg.
Has anyone had any experience with a problem like this? If so, what was your solution? I feel like I need to provide the answers to my service people instead of the other way around.
Thanks
