I got my 2010 Equinox 2 days ago and am loving it so far. The level of comfort and the ease it accomodates someone my size is very impressive. I have one question that I haven't been able to find an answer to in the owners manual. I have the display between the tach and the speedometer set to show the speed digitally. Just what is the little number to the right of the speed, it's in a little three sided shape and indicates 8 on my display. I've seen pictures online that show the same and some indicate the number 4 instead of the 8.Not sure what it represents so I don't know what section of the manual to look at. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello fellow Canadian.

The numbers indicate what 'tab' you are currently viewing. If you use the up/down arrows on your centre stack you can cycle through various screens such as instantaneous and average fuel economy, a digital speed readout, timer, two trip meters, and next turn information for your navigation system.

I had some ideas what I thought it might be but that wasn't among them. Thanks for passing the information along, greatly appreciated.

Another question regarding 2011 Nox, I ordered a 2011 Nox,for my wife on 6/26 and last month my wife was told the build date was 8/9, I tried using that camarotracking.com to see what was going on and all I get is no status any ideas if the site waas just down or something. Ill have to call dealer tommorow, I hope that they have started building this car. When I ordered my 2010 Nox I ordered it on 8/19/09 and it came in 11/16/09 like just about 3 mos. I hope this one isnt going to take that long.....:(

I called dealer today and I got the word the car is done awaiting shipment hopefully here by end of month. Funny after I talked to the dealer 1/2 hr later I get notification from camarotracking.com of change in status of my vehicle.:)

Just reporting in:

Thus far, three problems with the 2011 'Nox:

*Center console acting up - replaced under recall
*Very noticeable squeak from the rear hatch when making turns - Seal replaced, squeak gone
*window switches for drivers side rear window are inop - being replaced tomorrow.

All in all, my wife and I are still VERY happy with the car. When you have a great ride like that you can overlook the occasional bumps. So far I only have one dislike of the 'Nox and that is the crappy interface for the iPhone (or any other MP3 player). GM should get a firmware update out there to make this work better.

I forgot to update you guys on this.

I took the car into Friendly Chevy in Dallas. All three issues were fixed to my 100% satisfaction. I was VERY surprised that they fixed the squeak. Apparently the rear hatch seal needed to be replaced.

I've driven over 1000 miles since the fixes were made and I've yet to see a problem anywhere in the car.

Now if GM would just offer a flashware update to make the iphone interface work better. That would make the car perfect.

I've had my Equinox now for almost a year and have almost 18K miles already.
I don't know if I've just gotten used to it but it doesn't seem to be as quiet as it used to be. Has anyone else noticed this?

Has anyone else reclined their back seats? The manual says it has three positions but I've only noticed about a 2-3 inch difference. I don't know if I just haven't pushed back hard enough or thats there is.

Hi all,

We picked up our 2010 Nox this past January after a two month wait for a custom build. Just 200 miles into our V6 2LT AWD's life, the USB connection interface for MP3/Iphone failed. Overall, we've been loving the car but have had trouble with our dealer and their knowledge of the electronics and common Nox problems. It took several visits to our dealer, (local, not purchasing dealer) including the special order parts, to remedy the problem with the USB interface. Since the final fourth visit for the repair around July 15, 2010, it's so far so good. But here's the crazy part.

Since the repair to our USB port, really the ic chip/circuit board that controls said device, it appears that another shared part of the electronics is way out of calibration. Our gas mileage, never great to start with on the V6, now appears after several tanks of fuel and much careful note taking and mileage checks, to be very low. My wife is pretty freaked by her observations. She's no numbers slacker. She's got a Ph.D in economics. Numbers and formulas are her daily routine, so she can do pretty well figuring out something basic like this.

(Note: we also drove the car for 4 months before getting organized to have the USB problem repaired. We had plenty of time to calculate and observe mileage in all conditions. )

I've personally filled the tank, reset the average mileage on the onboard computer, sat and idled for less than 3 minutes and watched the average mileage go from 26mpg (on reset) to 12mpg in that time. Prior to the USB/IC replacement, we were getting minimum of 17 city, and had not seen this cliff like drop of mpg's. We never got less than 17 average.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Please forgive all the details. I just wanted to be as clear as possible.

Overall, we are loving the car. It's just freaky when IC's control so much of engine performance and fuel consumption.

How far did you drive between the reset and idling for three minutes? If you didn't drive far, this makes perfect sense.

What are the results for manual calculations after each fill-up?

I have a 2010 terrain with the same set up 3.0 liter engine. Mileage seems o/k but performance wise I feel maybe I shouldn't have spent the extra money on the v6. The transmission lags on light acceleration. And this thing really doesn't like any kind of incline. I wish someone at gm could tell me if they are working on a fix. I have a 2009 silverado 4x4 with 5.3 liter v8. I followed my wife home on her terrain from D.C to N.C and the silverado averaged 18 and the terrain averaged 24. Not as much of a difference as you would think but o/k.

How many miles do you have on it? I'm on my second '10 Terrain and find that they get much less sluggish as the mileage piles on. My AWD was also more sluggish than my FWD but maybe that has something to do with the gearing...

Thanks for your thoughts. The manual calc's show the same dismal mpgs. I know the dropping 'average mpg's' makes sense when at idle. But our Nox never did this before the dealership that repaired the USB connector had the car. I checked the other evening as I was driving about 1.5 miles to the market. I reset the average MPG setting and in the short distance, with a light foot I might add, I was down to 11.8 in the couple of minutes it took to get there. I'm still suspecting some 'anomaly' occurred when the dealer had our car that affected the engine settings. I will run another tank through with a careful manual check on gallons and distance. I've checked the odometer on a fixed distance and it's measurement is good.

We love this car, I'm just hating the computer control world at the moment.

Just hit 13,000 miles. Also had only minor issues -- like the center stack control module issue that was replaced via recall.

I've identified the Auto Time Adjustment issue in the Equinox Forum which Chevy Customer Service is looking in to.

Otherwise, it's a great car and I'm very happy.

Check your headliner by pushing up on it. Mine is sagging, as well as others that are on the dealer's lot. Not even a month old and had it back to dealer twice. Service dept. says it's supposed to be that way because they compared it to the others which also having sagging headliners. In discussions with Chevrolet about it now. Very frustrated.

Have the 2011 I4 LT1 with Driver Convenience Package(power seat, remote start, camera etc)
WOW I m very impressed so far!
Quieter and more comfortable than I expected, love the driver seat with great support, nice audio integration of USB and CD/MP3 drives. Handling exceeded my expectations.Getting about 25 mpg in mixed driving so far.
Probably the remote start/diagnostics through my Android phone app is not helping mpg! But very cool.
Will post back after 5-10k miles.

One question, since the built-in subwoofer is only used for active noise cancellation(on LT1 pkge)...there should be a way to enable it for audio(even adding extra amp) since it is already installed/powered--any guidance on this from those in the know?

see:
http://www.sandyblogs.com/techlink/2...oxterrain.html

Just to add that I've got 1000 miles now and even more pleased with it. MPG last couple tanks 24.7, mostly with A/C on(which seems to make at least 1 MPG difference)
The low beam lights are a little weak, so I changed the bulbs to Sylvania Silver Star Ultra(were on sale for $30/pair), barely noticeable difference-so don't bother if you are thinking about it.
Hope somebody can chime in on the sub-woofer question, as this LT1 package stereo needs some help.
