Lamborghini Gallardo GT

September 6th 2006 - What we have here are the first definitive pictures of the next Lamborghini Gallardo. Its radical bodywork and huge air intakes only hint at what's new underneath the neon paint.

As the Audi R8 is ready to be launched at Paris with version of the Gallardo's own chassis, it's only natural to offer the Lambo with more power and further separate the two in the marketplace. What this means is that the Gallardo will benefit from 600+ bhp and at he same time be catapulted beyond Ferrari F430 status.

But Lamborghini didn't stop at the engine, they have added a tasteful carbon fibre front fascia with huge intakes, a redesigned rear deck, a more prominent diffuser and wider bodywork at the wheels.

Whether or not this is a one-of prototype sent to California for testing, or the next Gallardo model in its final form, remains to be seen. Our bet is a future release at the the 2007 Geneva Auto Show.

Owning a Lambo isn't about going fast as much as it is about owning a Lambo. Anyone can buy a Corvette. Lambo = exclusiveness. And besides, Corvette does have a wonderful pushrod and the HUD is pretty cool, but they skimp on just about everything else. Like the roofs coming off? I remember that recall from earlier this year. And the interior is blah at best. It's a poor man's exotic.

See the "est" before "3.9 seconds?" That means it's not definitive. :D

If anything, it's conservative. 520/376 already shoves the Gallardo into the low-fours/high threes; 600 served up by all-wheel-drive horsepower has the potential to lend a serious shave to that.

Until recently, Lambo interiors were hardly anything to talk about.
Heh...being able to use 'Italian sports car' and 'superb craftsmanship' in an overwhelmingly positive light within the same sentence is a fairly recent occurrence. Much has changed.

This is not an upcoming Gallardo GT. This is a Gallardo with the Lambo of Orange County appearance package. Only 2 made and are currently sitting in the dealership showroom. No engine upgrades. The same 520hp engine from the Gallardo SE and 06 models. That websites info is wrong.

By the way, Lambo(any Lambo) all over Z06. Dont give a damn how much faster it is in a straight line when I could have a Lambo.

I would expect more then 600hp from twin turbos...seems kinda weak.
If this is accurate, then I'd guess that the primary goal behind this modest power boost is to space the Gallardo from the R8 while keeping it beneath the Murcielago. Lag will probably be minimal as well; if anything, I imagine that compact, low-pressure turbos will only further bolster the flexibility of this V10...
