05 Trailblazer LT - Brakes, tires, alignment problems.

I have an 05 LT with 24,200 on the O.D. Everything is factory std. Just took her in for check and noted both front tires are showing excessive outside edge wear, I'm assuming the camber angle, as it has no pull? Its funny that on both visits to me service dept, not once did the tech inform me of this during the "walk around inspection", nor was it noted on that form. The right tire is badly damaged(choppy). So my question is, why would the camber be so misaligned on only 24,000? I have never done any towing nor has the vehicle ever been offroad. It was brand new with 400 or so miles at inception. Also the drivers side rotor has a groove cut into the middle. A mech at the dealership (whom didn't know what vehicle I was in) said that alignment that bad at 24,000 was not normal and that there should be no grooves being cut in the rotor with that mileage. I realize it could just be dirt between the caliper and rotor though, there is a pulsation braking from highway speeds! I have a full 36,000warr. + 50,000GMPP. Will they fix the rotor and replace the tires under the warranty or will they give me the run around?, Also I'm afraid they will attempt to charge me for the alignment, as it is deemed "regularly scheduled inspection" @ 24,000. Any info that will help me when I go in would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely Chris in FL.

I wouldn't consider it normal, but it is possible. Alignment and tire issues from alignment aren't covered under warranty, and unfortunately neither is brake wear. If there is a tie rod end or some sort of loose steering/suspension part causing the alignment issue, which is causing the tire issue then you should be good to go as far as warranty coverage on the repairs, including tires. Of course you wont know until you get it checked. If there is something wrong with the brakes, say a sticking caliper or something of that nature, then it could be covered. Brake pulsation and turning rotors as necessary is not covered by warranty in most cases.

One other thing, and I dont mean to open a can of worms for you, but are you aware your GMPP ext warranty expires at 50k total, not 50k on top of the 36k standard warranty? I noticed that when I looked at the GM website using the VIN you posted earlier. Its kind of unusal to go with a 5yr 50k warranty, considering you already have 24000 miles.

the problem is, that the trail blazer uses junk tires from the factory. usually worn out within 35k. depends on what the tires look like, if the camber is out of whack or if your toe is out of specs. what PSI are you running them at? always use the factory supplied air pressures, located on the drivers side door jam.

if its chopped on the edges, normally its a toe issue. if its bald on the edges or worn more, then its camber. with camber problems you normally get a pull.
with to which side it pulls to it has the most positive camber.

you certainly want to gt it fixed.

now for the rotors bing warped, its actually surprising that they havent warped before then. GM rotors arent the greatest. with that many miles you will have a hard time getting them covered under warranty.
same for the tires. but i think they should replace the tire(s) and you pa for the alignment, it is a maintenance thing, as well as you pay for the rotors being machined. if they are grooved, depending on how they are, its probably just rust build up. but even still it will come back down the road.
it could be caused by a hard spot in the pad, or debris, or poor quality metal in the rotor. a few different things to look for when rotors get grooved.
