I like how they spelt LINCOLN out in the interior on the center stack, that's cool. Definitely not a WOW car for me (like the CTS was), but that's OK; not all cars are supposed to do that.

I give it a thumbs up. No, it is not a CTS, but it clearly is not supposed to be. Cadillac is going with the brash and bold design philosophy. That is good for Cadillac, but it does not mean that Lincoln should try to out-Cadillac Cadillac.

The MKS is more reserve and conservative. There is a difference between conservative and boring. The MKS is not boring. I am glad that Lincoln is not trying to be something it is not. As we all have seen for the past 30 years, American car companies are their best when they are themselves.

As for the comments on this thread, we now see that the MKS is a copy of a Jaguar, a copy of Korean cars, a copy of the CTS and-- at the same time -- dreadfully boring. Yet we see that the MKS kept the concept's rear end (that was shown before the CTS or Jaguar came to light) and it went with a split grill rather than the concept's one piece.

I'll wait to see it in person.

I absolutely hate the vertical Back-up light. The rest of the car is OK But they should have kept the grill of the Gr Show Car. The production Grill look like some kind of homage to Oldsmobile. In fact the more I look at the photos posted above the more I dislike the production car. They strayed too far from the Show car. The fender vent is different the angle of the trailing edge of the rear door window frame is different. they also should have kept the thinner design of the headlights on the show car. almost everything is better on the show car. The production model looks like a cheap copy of the show car.

Looks great to me. Much better than I expected.

I'd rather have a CTS too, but I don't think CTS and MKS have quite the same target customers. I think MKS will be more focused on luxury than sportiness, which is more the space Buick should be competing in. This blows the Lucerne away (granted it is at at higher price point).

Also, GM should hire Ford's photographers.

Nothing special looks like a slightly dressed up fusion interior and intrument cluster:tired:Lincoln should just be cut nothing about it says you have to have one these.

I love it.
Almost understated, but the details really shine. The exterior is an A, and the interior is much better without the japanese waterfall that the CTS uses. It looks functional, well laid out and proportional overall.

I love it in red. I used to love the CTS front end, but now it is my second favorite.

I see one detail from the Jag, the rear door window trim, that's it. Nothing else on the MKS looks like a Jag. Why do some insist it is a clone of the Jag.

Am I the only person that sees second generation Aurora in the MKS's belt line and green house? I love a homage to Oldsmobile as much as the next person but I don't think its the kind of statement Lincoln needed to make. Reaching Higher this car does not.

I do think its competition based on size and whatnot are the G-Body's; and the MKS (Continental) eats them for breakfast, brunch (important for this crowd), lunch and dinner. When was the last time GM invested any sort of money into technology or the interiors of the G-Body's? This car beats the DeVille (DTS) and the Lucerne and does so rather soundly... on paper at least. With AWD and the S80 chasis this should handle much better, and with a V6 that doesn't date back to the Johnson Administration it should get really good gas mileage/power output. Plus, those seats look A.MAZ.ING.

The design is a bit generic, its FWD, interior isn't exactly glamorous for a 40K car, and the car has less output than a TL Type-S in base form. Maybe it's aiming for the old school American luxury as opposed to the sport sedan field that the CTS is in. Can't really say its exciting, but its a decent car. I think the car resembles the Mondeo a bit much though....

In a summary: This is the car that Buick should have built.

What is with the front end, its so saggy! The overall proportions are way off too...and that CENTER STACK! This is a shame...

I was prepared to be extremely upset as I am right now after reading that Ford doesn't plan on moving the Lincoln brand upmarket to take the place of Jaguar. All we see here is a half-baked quasi luxury car. The interior is at the level of the previous Honda Legend interior. Where did they take that chrome door handle from? Old refrigerator? I also see door lock/unlock buttons taken straight from Mustang. I will also stop myself from commenting the cheap lettering on the dash.
That car saddens me more than Lucerne which was build on an old platform.
Lincoln should be what it once was. I hoped to see Lincoln building cars as good as the new CTS and going global. All I see Lincoln is treated like an unwanted child. If Ford still wants to treat Lincoln like that, they better kill or sell it.
That is my first impression, probably I will calm down very soon and start seeing this cars advantages which are quite many.

The Taurus gets 29mpg hwy. What are the chances that the MKS will get the same? That would give it an advantage. I bet it has the Taurus' safety record anyway.

ummm I need to thank you, Xenon, for finding the word for me, sincerely...
...of course I'm using it in the complete reverse meaning ;)

MKS = Glamorous, Quietly Glamorous
:yup:
