Where should ATS-V be priced?

41 - 60 of 77 Posts
Is this not what the imports do, they give you this MSRP which is so low that there is not a single car on their lots at that price.. because everything has options..
Anyways De nysschen knows how to play the game, lets see how he structures it.
Problem is your expected MSRP is too low. The CTS-V is at $65,000 already.

I expect Cadillac to play the options game, just like all the luxury players. But don't expect them to undercut them. ATS-V should have a base price of $62-65,000 for sedan and $65-68,000 for coupe.

If Cadillac were going the "cheaper" route, $60,000 for sedan and $63,000 for coupe.

Cadillac doesn't have to undercut anything.

An RS5 starts at $71,000.
It's good to undercut. CTS is cheaper than the 5. Be competitively priced, but give people a reason to buy your car other than raw performance.

I hope you're not thinking I'm advocating a $52,000 ATS-V. I'm not. $60,000 is fair. Just make it start with a 5 ($59,995) for marketing and psychological reasons.

I'm saying the ATS-V should be priced where the CTS-V left off.

CTS-V itself will most likely be price at the $85,000+ segment.
ATS-V is a smaller car, less powerful, and is a cheaper nameplate than CTS-V.

ATS-V won't stand a chance at $65,000. Sedan should be $60,000, Coupe $63,000.

Yeah, but the Gen 2 CTS-V is bad assier then the upcoming ATS-V.

People who buy American products don't like getting ripped off...

Hence the slowing of Cadillac sales with the latest generation. Personally I don't see the price increase value over previous Cadillac models..For example 2nd gen cts versus 3rd gen......

And yes we all are aware on this forum that People who buy foreign think their buying a better product...and like to project the image that they paid more...etc

Besides beaten with a dead horse...the give away subsidized european lease deals make them less expensive ..

Fwiw I believe Cadillacs new ATS v coupe should be priced 10 percent below BMW s offering...

Lexus followed that pricing model for years and slowly raised their prices...

ATS v coupe priced 10 percent less than the. M4 is my opinion for success in market penetration...

Im Just glad the upcoming sixth gen camaro can be had with the 455 hp LT1 v8.

All 3 CTS-V variants were priced the same, coupe, sedan and wagon also.
I liked that actually. There was a level of head scratching because they normally cost different amounts, but having the -V series share pricing was sorta awesome.

But maybe I'm just sad because I want an ATS wagon. :)
I'm thinking they might cut options to reduce the base model's weight.
That's likely, honestly. Especially after comments like :

...while a Track Package adds the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder, a smaller battery, along with nixing the floor mats and tire inflator to shed around 30 pounds...
But I still don't see it being a "stripper" on base trim - I have noticed that the ATS-V models shown have been sans light up door handles and front fog lights - I'd think the mules going to the car shows would be loaded to the gills, so who knows. The ATS engineering team had a "gram strategy" from day 1 that got a second round late in development - I'm certain they're sweating grams on the ATS-V to get its weight as low as possible. If they could undercut the M3 by even a pound that'd be magazine cred.

Ever try and find a $62k BMW M3/4.........reality is $75k+...
And that there is the beauty of that strategy, UPSELL!
Same with the 'Vette. MSRP, base in the low $50s but very few are sold that way. Once the people are spec'ing out what they want it's way past the base but they fell good since in their minds it started out at $53K.

But what do I know?
Worst thing I could do is run them into bankruptcy, right?

I'm a major V fan and feel that Cadillac should price the ATS-V as an affordable alternative to an M 3/4. Would have flown off the shelves at 55-59k. BMW buyers will not even walk in the showroom if there isn't a price advantage. As mentioned in an earlier post Corvette has a 60 yr reputation behind it...the ATS doesn't. If they would have underpriced it it's a good chance one can get that BMW, Mercedes, Audi buyer in and behind the wheel of a V. I'm waiting to see how the new CTS-V is priced and may look at that. If not my 2012 CTS-V is one helluva ride!! I feel it's one of the best cars to come out of GM.

You can throw around number forever, but how many on here are actual buyers of an ATS-V?
What price are YOU willing to pay?
You can talk luxury all you want, the real issue is sales. Prices should start in the mid 50's, will probably start at $58,995 to undercut the CTSVSport by a little

A loaded CTS-V should top out at ~$100-110,000 easy!! Base E63 is $93,000, similar to M5. E63 Wagon exceeds $115,000.
$85,000 for CTS-V would be an acceptable MSRP.
Literally needs to price cts v at least TEN PERCENT LESS THAN BMW M SERIES TO SUCCEED.

AMG' s move to AWD in the E63 is a huge advantage transcending price for unit sales growth potiential..

Excellent move by amg for sales in snow states...
