I have a 2003 Chevy Suburban that sporadically goes into Reduced Engine Power. To overcome the issue, I park the burb, pop the hood and let the engine bay cool for a minute or so, and then restart. The problem then goes away for another month or two.

Now I read on some forums that this glitch is related to a faulty Throttle Position Sensor, TPS. I checked my manual from GM and it supposed to be located on the driver's side of the engine, between the alternator and throttle body. However, on my V8, 6L engine I don't see it there. Only a controller for the throttle body is visible and thats on the starboard side.

Is the TPS integral with the throttle controller?

ok so I had the SAME problem with my 03 burban...replace the throttle body AND the throttle position sensor and took it to the shop and spent $105 to have them hook the tech 2 scanner to it and flash the parts together. Not even 24 hours later it popped the reduce engine power sign again with the check engine light. The shop wants to charge me AGAIN to just hook up the scanner and find the problem. Does anyone have an idea on what the issue could be so I'm not shelling out another $105 plus parts and whatever else? I'm a do it myselfer and much prefer not having anyone touching my vehicles...any info will help. Thanks
