It doesn’t seem like many other outlet’s know much beyond the statement he gave saying GM has a steady stream of income repairing Teslas at our dealers. My guess it’s most of the wear and tear replacement parts only and participating dealers have certain techs that are Tesla repair certified. This also gives GM service centers even more experience working on EVs in the mean time.

I thought Teslas didn't break. You know, no moving parts and all that stuff.

I am stunned! Stunned, I tell you!

There’s definitely still plenty to go wrong. Ford has stated it takes 40% less work force to assemble an EV so the parts count is dramatically lower.

That’s the green all the manufacturers are thinking of when everyone else is talking about the environment. No doubt about that. Of course you already knew that.

Makes me think of the forum members that want to eliminate vehicle dealers and simply order their car online from the manufacturer. I’ve wondered how they think the vehicle will be repaired while under warranty?
I have mine repaired at the local Tesla service center less than 5 miles from my house or Tesla service ranger comes to my house for something minor.

Yet, some people chose to buy a Tesla that are no where near a Tesla service center. Sometimes Tesla choses not to put a service center in a rural area and sometimes Tesla is prohibited by law from opening a service center in a given State.

GM is still trying to reduce the number of dealerships they have in North America.

Ha. Dealers aren't going away anytime soon. Like until we've colonized Mars--renamed Elonorb--and earthlings can teletransport. That will be a little while.

Currently, that applies to New Mexico, Alabama, and South Carolina. The other 47 U.S. states have no prohibitions on Tesla operating service centers.

Tesla got around the restriction in New Mexico by working with Pueblo Indian leaders in that state, siting a service center on tribal land not subject to New Mexico Statutes, Section 57-16-5-V.

Not me.
Even out of warranty they have one big advantage.
My Cadillac dealer will give me a loaner no matter how old the Cadillac is that I bring in.

They used to give only new cars (usually an XT4) but lately they've given used cars too.
This is not all bad. One of 'em was a CT6!

But it is always a Cadillac.
They used to give Olds, but apparently quite a few customers didn't like that.
I personally wouldn't care as long as it works.

I assume you are speaking of me. And no, I do not want to eliminate the repair shop, it is the sales side that needs to be taken out of the 1940's. I think the current repair shop model is fine, my only issue is I don't see why GM can't own their own repair shops.

They would like to. But it's the same reason they can't own their own dealerships. Dealerships have franchise agreements that don't allow corporate competition.
