So I live just outside a small town on the road to the beach. This past March we were lucky enough to get a Super Walmart( big news for a small town, lol ) And it has been a real success as it has attracted a Sonic and a new Gas station with several buisnesses thinking about coming to that general area to benefit from the traffic with Walmart.

Before the gas station infront of Walmart opened up, gas prices were $4 a gallon plus or minus a cent or two. Since the station opened this week, their price was $3.83! This caused the pumps to be loaded up with three cars waiting per filler. The other stations couldn't stand this so they started to compete by dropping theirs

:bounce:

The lowest it got @ 9:30 last night was $3.73 at a Hess station. The only thing that sucks about the whole deal is that I did not see it coming so the day before, I filled up at a station out of town for $3.94( which was a good price at the time, I drove a little out of the way to get there:( ) I feel dumb, lol. But who would have thought that prices would drop 27 cents for the fourth?

:->>

If I needed gas and if the station across the street were selling it for $3.99, I would buy it from Wal-Mart. Otherwise, it's only $0.16. Woop. This gas thing makes too many people loopy.

When it comes to gas prices, people just don't think straight. All things considered it costs about $0.25 to go 1 mile in a 20 mpg vehicle, so unless the cheaper station is really close or the price difference is really substantial, they actually end up losing money. And even if the price difference is big enough, they spend an extra 20 min or so to save $0.50. Might as well get a $1.50/hr job.

Gas prices ar only a small percentage of the equation. Food has gone up. Elecricity has gone up. Natural Gas has gone up. The prices of other goods and services has gone up. All of this is in the name of increases in energy costs. Gas prices are one of the few things that people have some "bargaining power" over.

Ten or fifteen cents a gallon doesn't sway me much.

Either of our cars will typically take seven or eight gallons to fill. A buck twenty isn't enough to get me to wait in Costco's line for 10-15 minutes.

I'd rather support the mom-n-pop offbrand station I now frequent, where they have real gas with no E involved, and where I have yet to see a BMW or Lexus in the lot.

Thank the Lord for small favors, I guess. :yup:

I only use tier one gas in my cars.

Shell is the present brand I use as its local.

Replace one intank fuel tank sending unit at 1000 dollars and you might reconsider using non tier one fuel brands.

I wouldn't care if wal-kill jobs charged $1 a gallon. I still wouldn't buy it from them. I wonder how long wal-kill jobs has determined it will take for them to put the other gas stations out of business. I'm sure some accountant has determined the amount of loss prior to killing the other gas stations and the amount of gain once the other stations are out of business.

Here at the dealer we get at least one car per month with driveability issues associated with Wal-Mart gas.
Why does it matter that it is Wal-mart gas? Isn't Wal-mart gas bought on contract from a main line company like Exxon depending on who bids the lowest for the deal? Kind of like Equate( Walmart's store brand ) tooth paste and Crest or Colgate?

Man, I want sub $4.00 gas. It's to expensive here. Regular around here is nearing (and, in some places, passing) $4.50. $4.70+ for premium.

I am with you. I would NEVER buy ANYthing from Effin Wal-Mart for ANY reason....ever.

To me to do so is my 'version' of being Un-American. ;)

I wish Gas was that low. here in my neck of the woods the lowest i saw was 4.08 but you had to pay up front with cash only or some other form of catch to get the price advertised.

Best thing ever was a station here in Cincinnati screwing up the prices so that regular gas cost a piddling $1.40/gallon instead of $4.10/gallon. Fights broke out, lines stretched for miles, an interstate was actually shut down from all the people getting off at that exit...
Gas prices cause people to do weird things...

I couldn't tell the reason. Maybe crap in the tanks?

The fact is that the majority of fuel related problems we see involve Wal-Mart.
