Is that slit in the chrome part of the bumper on the HDs and Vortec Max half tons for a "behind the bumper" winch like in the Dodge Power Wagon?

Is this even possible in a GM truck without changing the bumper or buying a brush guard? My old GM truck had one (1970s model), and it came in handy several times. God knows I'm a wuss when it comes to working my truck to hard...it's only a year old. I'd rather have a winch for those situations at least until I'm more comfortable with a few scratches in the paint.

I've been looking at some options on this lately, and I am much more familiar with the center and brush guard mounted types. They have those for pretty much every truck around except for maybe a Ridegeline.

That hole is not for a winch, but I'm sure you couls fab something to put one up behind the bumper. I know there are some that have done that on Z71 burbs/tahoes.

I believe it is for cooling. my 1500 Z71 burb has the cut out but it's not cut out.... if that makes sense.
