tonight, im buzzing at 2000 rpm's at 40 mph. i come to a stop, then i just tap the gas and get the revs up to 2000 again to just progress my way down lahser and maple road. i was on my way to my gf's art show before woodward, and then all of the sudden, kaboom! i hear a pop/backfire and then my car runs like s***. brent came to help me and make sure i didnt break down on the way to woodward. he followed me and noted i had black smoke (carbon) coming out of my exhaust, BADLY, and it smelled bad.

tim miller with the redline said it might be the cat clogged, so i took his challenge and we unbolted the dp real quick just to see if it would run good. no luck. so we kinda just laughed about it and its probably #2 that went bad considering it had the most misfires before. all i know is that this engines f***ed beyond belief. i went through 1/4 tank of gas just to get home.

now i know the dealers gotta see a problem, but im not sure if i should take it in to one of the 3 ive been to or not.

i'll get a video sometime saterday. today was my last day of school.....aparently thats when my cobalt decided to call it quits too

edit: symptoms include not exceeding 4500 rpms at all, check engine light on 100% of the time and blinks when i hit the gas. i get 10-12 mpg according to my guage as well.

Compression check results?
LMAO, ya the chevy dealer refused to do any checks on it because of some invoice about the 2.0 s/c ion redline and cobalt ss. (i know thats not my engine) so i asked. he said QUOTE "ITS A GENERIC INVOICE FOR ALL ECOTECS"

HOW DO U DO THAT?!?! supercharged 2.0 engine is = 2.2 NA engine

ive hooked it up to a tech 2. i got some pics of what cylinders have been misfireing (before it got this bad)

this was done a couple days prior to. at a saturn dealership.... i know where to go for good service now....

so your gonna write off chevy for ever because you have a lemon and bad dealers? You should try to find a dealer that isn't out to f*** you. Isn't this still under warrenty? i thought the 5/100 was already out in 2006? and most cars have atleast 3 year warrenties, just go in and have it replaced. I'm surprised you're having such a problem with the dealers.

An injector failed?
And you're going to write off GM?

Your description of your interaction with the dealer was a bit hard for me to follow.
If your car is under warranty.
And you haven't done something to void that warranty.
And you are still within the warranty period.
You should be covered? Right?

What am I missing here?

you didn't answer the warranty question, why would they just blow you off if your car is under warranty? Im sorry you would write off a car company based on the performance of its dealers, I can understand it somewhat, but that is more of a dealer problem then the cars problem.

I clicked on the link on your signature. You put an intake on the car and exhaust. What else did you do? The way you write is very hard to follow. The car is under warranty unless your modifications voided it.

well that sucks, buy a saturn or a pontiac and call it a day. Sounds like those Chevy dealers treated you like ****...thats not right. I hope you get your engine replaced and/or your car bought back. I don't blame you, I'd really hate those 'dealers' but not chevrolet.

people can say what they want, but you spent your hard earned money, bought your car, and you have problems with it and the ppl who sold it to you are not fixing the problem. That is some bull ****. I hope those STEALERships go out of business for alienating a customer.

intake and exhaust are simple bolt on's that don't do jack to your warranty.

NOw if you supercharge, turbo, nitrous, cam, etc. your vehicle or run racing fuel in it...then I can see the problem.

dumbbutt, get a clue. GET A FREAKING CLUE

there is only difference if u go WOT (wide open throttle) on the freeway or at a stop light than if u went to a drag strip.....do u know what that is??

- its keeping the streets safe, and myself from hitting someone else, thats what.

just because i take my fun to the drag strip 1 time, doesnt mean the car has a write off to break.

u sir, are very foolish if for one second u try and justify ur arguement.

yep, thanks for the worst service ive ever had :lmao:

do your research man, get a clue.

1) gmpp make an intake for the cobalt anyway, my version is just a different filter and pipe.
2) if u want to tell me that it does void my warrant, read this The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuson-Moss_Warranty_Act
3) after reading that, prove to me how and why my intake broke my engine that badly

thats what ive been saying all along:bounce:

if i had better experience with another car company, why go back to chevy?
exactly.

And why won't you let the Saturn dealer that you LIKE deal with it?
because, according to GM, saturn isnt authorized to warranty any other cars except saturns. they are allowed to work on them, but the dealer cant warranty them. like if i bought a new engine, and asked them to put it in, they could. but i would have to pay for the parts and labor. thus nullifying any use of warranty.

BUT this will change in 2009 when GM has planned to allow saturn dealerships to make this happen. because some of the saturns are becoming more modernized and similier to other GM cars, its a process thats been going on for a while.

..............-----hope that answers ur question......

Just curious; is English your second language by chance? I ask because you seem to grasp it quite well in your YouTube Video, yet you act and type as if you are in ESL class.

He made a legitimate point, all you had to respond with was, "In my opinion, drag racing should not affect the engine's longevity", or something to that effect.

Good luck with your new Honda. Don't buy one with a manual transmission though; it won't stay in gear, and Honda dealers will ignore the problem.

dont let the door hit ya in the ass on the way out. im sure honda or toyota will love a customer like yourself

OK GET A CLUE. my god why are u incinuating im gonna buy one of their cars?!?!?!?!

im taking my business elsewhere IN THE GM FAMILY. i'll go buy myself a saturn, pontiac, or buick. i mean some of their cars are similier and have the same engines, but my god i have never been soo interegated before in my life just to explain why my engine took a crap, and how i need to justify my warranty rights.

true story now, my friend with a 2003 pontiac bonnieville has had the engine replaced once already, and the tranny replaced 4 times. why? because it ran bad, and the dealer knows that odds are that it was a defect or a problem. now im not saying he wasnt asked why it broke, but he simply told them listen, my cars broken, i have a warranty, i intend to use it, chop chop. and thats it.

pontiac i respect a lot. my family has always been VERY supportive of the pontiac brand. and i was actually laughed at and looked down upon for being different trying a new brand called chevy................and look what i have now.................. should have listened to my family, wont EVER get one of those cars again if thats what they call service

ok...................................and how is my response any different????????

its legitamate in every way. i took my car to the track once, tried it out against some cars, went home.

when ur at a stop light and u do a 1,2,3 pull in ur car, its no different than if u were at a drag strip bud.

and the only ADDITIONAL damage done, is to the axles and engine mounts. which the engine mounts on my car are made damn solid, and the axles are the WEAKEST link in my car.

SOOO. if my axles snapped on my car, ya i would say thats my fault.

but when i buy a car new, drive it 90% freeway time to and from school/work take 1% and throw that in for actual "drag" and WOT. and at 25000 miles my car has this kind of problem, where the dealer fails to see it.

no sir u must be on drugs. no way. not gonna happen

and read my post prior to this. i support GM, just no longer have any respect for chevy anymore

You do realize the dealers are independent from GM? GM can do very little to control what their dealers do besides yank their license to sell their vehicles. Have you tried to call Chevy Corporate?
i do realize this. but the facts remain, i had a bad dealer, so i took it to another, and then another, and its now 5 months later, my cars still broken, and it has now became worse.

sir, as much as id like to take out the dealers, odds are slim to none 1 customer makes a difference like that.

ALTHOUGH, my buddy who owns a 2006 corvette Z06 went to buy a chevy corvette car cover for his car, and this dealer charged 100 dollars more than a different dealer for the same part. so they are scamming a lot of stuff to begin with, cars are also way overpriced too.

in case ur wondering what the dealer is called, its Wally Edger Chevy off lapeer road
