Carscoops

When a BMW M3 and a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray wait at the traffic lights there’s a good chance a drag race will happen when the lights turn green.

It’s exactly what occurred in the video you are about to see, with the Corvette driver clearly acting impatient to show the BMW M3 driver who’s boss. While the Corvette had a great start, the driver was apparently not quite used to the car, as the rear wheels lost traction and sent the Vette into an uncontrolled slide.

Luckily for all those involved, the BMW M3 was a car length behind the Corvette when it started sliding out of control and the Chevrolet driver somehow managed to stop it from hitting the rails. But it was really close…

Here's my response from Jalopnik:

No-lift-shifting while the tires are still spinning is a great way to grenade the transmission. Gotta love that 5/100 warranty! I'm sure this guy will be using every last bit of it, causing headaches for those of us with legitimate powertrain claims.
