Anyone ever experianced this, get snow in the yard, thought I could go thru it in 2wd, got stuck in it, bout 10 inches of snow slightly packed, put her in 4x4, try to push through it, and the truck starts hopping like I'm hitting huge washboards on the road. Tried a few more times to move and same hop, don't wanna wreck nothing so I get the shovel. This has happened to me on a few occasions in snow. I should note wheels were pointed straight ahead.

Is this normal, or do I have problems with my 4x4? Is the hop sensation from slack in the drivetrain, slipping in and out of traction like snapping loose and grabbing again. It's very embarressing when I know it's not alot of snow, but if I hop it some more I'm gonna twist a (aluminum reinforced with cardboard I heard) driveshaft.....

normal
You don't want it to happen really. Try to apply the brake slightly and/or let off the gas when it does. Compare it to wheel hop on a front wheel drive (lack of traction, suspension is to soft for the conditions). It can be prevented but there are a lot of factors to stop it. If its just every once in a while I wouldn't worry about it.
