Royal Liver Switches To Vauxhall In £12M Deal

Royal Liver, the Liverpool-based assurance society has swapped a triple badge deal with three manufacturers for a Vauxhall sole-badge contract worth around £12 million * at showroom prices.

Royal Liver has an 800-strong fleet of cars which were previously supplied by Toyota, Nissan and Rover.

However, following a competitive tender process that involved nine motor manufacturers, the friendly society opted for the solus supply of Vauxhall cars.

Royal Liver's UK direct retail operations director Colin Nugent fleet consultant Steve Cox, formerly commercial director at Dial Contracts, said one factor in the decision was that Vauxhall produced cars at Ellesmere Port nearby "and we wanted to work together and support a local employer if possible."

"And we gave our sales staff the chance to evaluate three cars: the Toyota Corolla, the Nissan Almera, and the Vauxhall Astra, and while they thought all were good vehicles, their preference was for Astra."

Royal Liver will operate around 350 Astras and 400 Vectras and will also consider taking a number of Saab models.

All of the vehicles will be supplied on a contract purchase arrangement with leading contract hire supplier Interleasing.
