Maybe we should have a poll as to the best GM badge out there...One for North America and one that includes all of the subsidiaries. Any thougths?

Saab has the best emblem of any GM subsidiary IMO. hands down.

NO! The move away from coloured badges is much better! The colours clash with the paint on most of the cars. Lots of people take the colour out themselves when possible. I hate the gold Bow Tie on my Silverado and this summer, it will be going black to match the rest of the truck. Buick dropped the colours off of the tri-shield a while ago and it looks much better. Pontiac needs to drop the red (but not in favour of that redesigned badge. I didn't like that) and the same goes for Saturn and GMC. The GM chicklets they put on the cars were thankfully silver, not blue. Imagine how silly blue ones would look. :rolleyes: The only badge in GM's stable that should keep the colours is Cadillac. The redesign was good and it would just not look right all silver. The rest don't need colours IMO.

I like this new badge for Vaulhall. :yup:

You're completely cuckoo!!
The GM brands that have lost their color to their badges look lifeless. Esp. the Buick badge. Pontiac should keep the red. GMC should keep the red in theirs also. The redesigned Oldsmobile badge looked good, though a bit of color may not have hurt. The Corvette's badge should stay as is along w/Cadillacs'. Hummer doesn't even have a badge. Saab's badge is fine. Though a tweaking/redesign w/color in it may be cool. The Holden badge is fine. Opel's badge looks fine as well. I'm not sure if Daewoo has a badge. Its hard to remember if the cars they sold here as Daewoo's before GM bought them, had any.
This new Vauxhall badge looks ok. I would think a "V" in a circle w/a Griffin's head in the "jaws" of the "V" would look better. Perhaps w/color in it to! :)

GM should stop trying to copy Toyota(& whoever else) & its brands in this regard.

The badges on Chrysler's & its 2 other brands within are fine. Dodge's badge looks the best. I don't think Jeep really has a badge.

Ford's badge will probably never change. Mercury's should be updated/changed but w/some color in it. Lincoln's could probably use an update.

I like my Saturn very much, but every time I look at one I think "Rudolph the red nosed reindeer" The Red Saturn badges are awful looking, expecially on the front of the vehicle. I wish they'd stop.

I am not anti-color but sometimes they look cheesy.

Actually the UK is GM's biggest market in Europe with Vauxhalls share of the market bigger than any other except Russia so yes Vauxhall is pretty significant, and it makes a profit and is the 2nd largest manufacturer of cars in the UK. Bit of a bright spot in GME really!

Are you a member over on SaturnFans.com? Some people there have disassembled the badges and changed the colour, usually to match the paint. This is mostly ION owners, but the badges are the same or similar on the VUEs. The S-series had some special edition models that had black background bages stock and those are popular among S-series owners, but they do not fit the newer models. I was going to change the badges on my S-series too, but it's my sister's now. The Bow-Tie on my Silverado will be black soon. :yup:

I just hope they do not put blue bow ties back on Chevy cars.
That's funny to me because I've always hated the gold/bronze-ish bowtie. I think silver would look much better and clash with much less.

I think the colour looks tacky and usually ugly.

This is the latest Daewoo badge.

Hummer and Jeep both just have their name in block letters as their badge. The Mercury badge looks fine, not great, but fine. I like the Lincoln badge, but I used to get Lincoln and the previous Olds badge mixed up when I was younger. The colourless badges look more modern, I prefer them.

I should have read the entire thread before posting...I agree with you 98% (I actually like the redesigned Pontiac badge sans color). But yea, no color for any brand except Caddy which includes the Mark of Excellence.

The gold Bow-Tie is supposed to be on the Trucks.
Blue = Cars
Gold = Trucks
Or that's the way it used to be. Silver would look best on the cars and SUVs fo sure, but the silver on the trucks wouldn't be quite right, because of the chrome bar they sit on. I think colour keyed looks best on the trucks. Or just black on any colour truck.

You're right...I didn't think about that chrome bar. I've noticed, though, that the new Malibu has HUGE gold bowties--I hate 'em.

Can you post a pic of the Holden badge? Thanks in advance.
No worries YupYup

A pretty crap picture though. My favourite badge as a whole, but Cadillac's wreath part comes to a nicer taper IMHO.
There is also a less stylised version, in gold:

^Alternate version, I haven't seen it in real life before so I suspect it's fake, it certainly looks tome like it's plastic off a cheap trophy :D but the more pronounced leaves can't be too bad.

I haven't noticed the colour of the bow-ties on the Malibu, but I bet you will from now on. I just noticed the Camaro at the top of the page has a gold bow-tie on it. :(
