If you took a low mileage Vauxhall Carlton to Lotus and asked them to modify it into a Lotus Carlton spec-wise, and money was no object, would there be any issues about it?

For no object money probably no for anything reasonable probably yes. But you might be able to get all the parts you need yourself

The parts you'd need would be more expensive than a complete one and realistically there are better cars for the money. I mean it's fast alright, but Carltons are pretty marginal cars quality-wise.
