If this car is NOT a forecast to some degree of the next Vette, I feel that GM SHOULD make it be! I can imagine those rear "vents" toned down a tad, but I love the profile and front as it. Time for revolutionary vs. evolutionary Vettes!

I have to wonder where you see 'retro' in the design. I see 100% futuristic.

The Corvette (assuming this is some kind of Corvette Concept) has never looked that 'muscular' or 'mean'. It's always looked streamlined, lithe and fluid. Something this concept most definitely is.

Man.. that is one crazy car!.. Kinda cool. Way to radical for prodction tho.

There are too many design elements (fender vent, coke bottle fenders, low roof, hood scoop, etc.) for this not to signal some kind of next generation styling.

Looks very 1968 StingRayish.
Especially the fenders......a total copy of the C3 Vette.
GM needs only 1 or 2 retro vehicles, not 3.
Sorry, don't like.
Billy Mitchell back from the dead to design the C7. LOL.

the r8 has really large (and well integrated) vents front and rear. we could see this element on the c7.

i REALLY like the rear fenders. le mans prototype cars have a sunken deck with raised fenders. they do this to clean up the air for the rear wing. it doesn't mean much for a street car, but is a huge advantage for the c7r. maybe this is a little influence from the still born evo mid engined corvette? the less wedge shaped car means a smaller butt.

awd does make a significant difference to performance. it nearly doubles longitudinal acceleration, and even increases lateral acceleration. i don't expect a movie car to be a development mule, but it'd be really telling if the autobot did 4 wheel burnouts:D

Thanks for the flashback of posting that image...when that car came out when I was a kid I went mental over it! That is why I have grown bored with these last couple "evolutionary" Corvettes...I want "in your face" ballsy Vettes again.

I sure hope this really IS a Corvette concept as this is even more exciting to me than all the buzz about the CTS concepts after those sneak peeks on '60 Minutes'. If this is a one-off for the movie vs. a sneak at the next Vette I will have a hard time having any hope for, or faith in, GM

I think it's safe to assume that GM is learning quickly from past mistakes and as such we'll see the Camaro looking pretty close to it's original concept, and while it's a bit early to know for sure I think the Beat will be the same. Taking that into account GM would be mad not to show this as a motorshow concept before ushering it into production. With rising fuel prices and CAFE considerations the Corvette is really only going to become a niche vehicle (moreso than it already is) which is a great opportunity to make it really stand out, push the boundaries with it and make it a true halo car for the brand.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of the four centrally mounted exhaust outlets, but thats just me and who knows what revisions could be made if this was destined for production. The rest of the car though is a winner in my eyes. It neatly invokes the themes of the legendary 1960's Vettes while still looking modern and cutting edge. I say bring it on, and in honour of getting things right, engineer a RHD version too!
