hey everyone im new here so i hope i put this in the right place.

i have a 1985 trans am with a 305 out of a 87 caprice AND A 400 trans all i know is it came out of a gm van now everything was good until i started to bolt the torq converter to the flywheel the torq was to small none of the holes would line up. so do i need a diffrent flywheel or transmission? any help would be greatly appreciated

You need a dual bolt pattern torque converter.
You can try a larger flywheel, but you'll need a different starter too. I'm not sure if there is a 12 3/4" 305 flywheel.
But there ARE dual pattern torque converters.

TH400s had large pattern converters.
Those flywheels are on 350s, 400s, big blocks, and some HD 4.3 V6s.
If you have a neutral balance flywheel you can change to another neutral balance flywheel.
BUT IT MUST BE THE SAME MASS.

just get a dual pattern converter.
