Timing is perfect for this work van. Styling will surely be prioritized to last place for people who need a smaller, efficient vehicle for their daily business. Of course, image is important to some and this vehicle screams conservative and contemporary.

Word on the street is the Honda Element is going to die ! This quirky little box has an incredibly loyal following that might find the Connect a reasonable alternative.

Too bad the Connect doesn't have more horse (or a diesel, which has been high on the Element Owners wish list) or AWD. It could get a fan base quickly !

I think a powertrain upgrade could happen quickly if called upon, although do we know exactly what Ford has planned at launch? Have they been specific?

I I am no mistaken, the Diesel in the EU TC is an old engine tha is barely passing EU emissions. My understanding is, that Ford will put a newer engine intop the TC in a few years and that diesel might make it overseas, but the currnet one is simply incapable of passing US emissions.

I think the 2.0l is OK - but I do wonder why the mileage is so low - 24mpg HWY is Flex territory -

I think it would be good if they put the 1.6 EB and 2.5 in it. I have also wondered why its 24 but its still better than 19 from the E-Series.

In regards to fuel economy, my guess is that it is a heavy vehicle and it also has to punch a big hole in the wind. Thus, fuel economy suffers a bit.

So, what is the word on on-sale date? I'm really wanting one for the business and I'm curious as to how long I'm gonna have to wait for it.
Ford willl start sales in January but they will give them directly to the buyers. You will not see them for sale on lots until the summer.

I think all small businesses want smaller, efficient vehicles.

Who cares about styling when money is on the line?

My parents would have loved something like the Transit Connect when they owned a restaurant in the late '90s. They searched and opted for the "smallest" workhorse van they could find, which was a 95 Aerostar with the pushrod 3.0L. It was sort of an overkill, but it was really the only reasonable choice.
