I was just comparing the specs of contemporary trucks:
F 150
4.2L Triton V-6 : Power:202 hp; Torque 260 lb-ft
4.6L TRITON V-8: Power:231 hp; Torque 293 lb-ft
5.4L TRITON V-8; Power:300 hp; Torque 365 lb-ft
GMC Sierra:/ Chevrolet silverado
Vortec 4.3L V-6: Power:195 hp; Torque 260 lb-ft
Vortec 4.8L V-8: Power:295 hp; Torque 305 lb-ft
Vortec 5.3L V-8; Power:315 hp; Torque 338 lb-ft
Vortec 6.0L V-8; Power:367 hp; Torque 375 lb-ft
(High Output)
Dodge Ram:
3.7L Magnum® V6: Power: 215 hp,Torque: 235 lb-ft
4.7L Magnum® V8: Power: 235 hp,Torque: 300 lb-ft
5.7L HEMI® V8: Power: 345 hp; Torque: 375 lb-ft
Nissan Titan:
Endurance 5.6L V8: Power 317 hp; Torque: 385 lb-ft
Toyota Tundra:
IForce 4.0L V-6: Power:236 hp; Torque 266 lb-ft
IForce 4.6L V-8: Power:271 hp; Torque 313 lb-ft
IForce 5.7L V-8; Power:381 hp; Torque 401 lb-ft
I didn't realise how badly out powered and outgunned were the others by the tundra! I was surprised to see that even the mighty sierra/silverado GMT900 has a bigger but less powerful engine than the tundra! and I've also noticed that the tundra, besides having the most powerful engine also has a 6 speed transmission!
I just wondered whether the Tundra will follow in the footsteps of the Tacoma and one day become the Camry of full size trucks?
