Jeremy Clarkson faced the wrath of Argentinians today by driving through the country in a Porsche with the number plate H982 FKL to film for Top Gear. The BBC presenter sparked a new controversy with the 'provocative' plate - a reference to the 1982 Falklands War - while driving part of the famous Patagonian Highway.

Just remember among many other ( weightier ) things.....

That was USS Phoenix ( CL46 ) A Brooklyn Class Light Cruiser that served well and with distinction - from the gitgo in WW2.

Who was it who punched out Clarkson at some big event. JC was drunk as usual, made a smarmy comment to a guy who doesn't take **** and got his clock cleaned.

All I could find was a dustup with Piers Morgan, who's such a total ******* that he makes Jeremy look like the baby Jesus in comparison.

If JC punched out Piers Morgan, more powah! to him.

That's because your not a PC nut.

Jeremy loves making people laugh, and he succeeds at doing that. I don't understand why people take things so personally, especially stuff that comedians say. People need to calm down.

I'll be pissed if he gets canned for this.

We Brits could do without unneccessary provocation like this.
Not really. The Argentines are totally in the wrong on this one and Brits should use any opportunity to rub it in their face as often as possible. I mean really WTF are they on about?

Forgot the particulars, I think the Argentines mistakenly sensed weakness and jumped. Lucky Maggie was boss then, not sure any other pee emm would've had the spine to do what was done.

I have an interesting summary of military lessons learned from the Falklands War. One is that a mini-Harrier-Carrier is NO substitute for a full bull moose aircraft carrier with some badass fighters aboard.

British troops paid the price for no real carriers. A carrier task force can do amazing things. Hoping there are no nuke attack subs within 1000 miles.

Pity that cruiser was sunk. A beautiful ship, huge loss of life.
Again, the troops pay the big price for the folly of their "leaders" who were stupid enough to put an ancient warship in a nuke sub's Area of Operations.

Peerless Moron is more like it, but Piers Moron is a good start!

Some say headlines read "forced out of country" for Clarkson, some say they all fled voluntarily, all we know is, the cars have been abandoned and filming was cut short.

I used to enjoy Top Gear before they started making $1 Million UKD per episode and started filling half the season with reruns (Best Of's) and have been feigning effort during the other half.
