The rendering is just a modified nose on a 2014 Camaro. The spy shots of the uncovered 6th Gen's seem to show quite a bit more body definition than just different nose and tail. Not to mention I think the Alpha dimensions will change the overall look and stance.
Correct. It is though Mark McNabb has not seen the video of the Gen 6 Camaro on the Nurburgring or any of the many spy photographs of the new Camaro with its padded camouflage removed.

4 cyl engines? This is supposed to be a muscle car. Not a honda.

The evolutionary exterior design is 100% the right choice. The 5th gen was an absolute sales success due to the cutting edge exterior styling. The looks sold the car, period. Why would GM take the risk with a radical Toyota FT1-like exterior design that could kill sales? GM is without question correct with their strategy. The 6th Gen will look and perform great.

Although I question how good this render is compared to the spy pictures, this particular render from the article does intrigue me (wouldn't want to be a passenger in the back seat of the new car):

That render looks so off! The rear haunches, the C Pillar, The side window aft of the door look terrible. Just look at the Transformer Camaro, and you can see Chevrolet's designers are much better than that. They are paid professionals. No doubt the person that did that render also got paid and considers his/her self to be a a professional, but thankfully that person likely isn't working for a major automobile company.

I liked the 5th gen well enough to buy one. It was a great car, but I'm hoping for something more than evolutionary. Mustang went evolutionary though, so Camaro may do the same.

Still, if the new chassis results in a somewhat smaller, lighter car, I'm all on board. And based on other recent GM products, I'm expecting the interior to be outstanding.

i think the current design is just amazing. i am glad they are keeping some of the design elements. its a camaro, it should have a look that sticks with it. like how mercedes has a specific look that has evolved over the last 40 years. you can look at a 1970s mercedes and see the designs that trace to today over the various generations. too often i feel that american car companies like to make drastic full changes from one generation to the next taking away what made the car good or attractive.

Seriously I hope Chevy comes with a brand new design for the Alpha based Camaro. Otherwise they would be giving the new Mustang market share.

I find it odd that they'd completely reengineer the car onto the Alpha platform, yet make it look almost exactly the same, no more than a usual MCE.

I'm betting they're f'n with us. The mules wear chopped up current Camaro bodywork to fool us. Indeed, I hope they're messing with us, and that they'll drop a noticeably new car on us just a month or so before it hits the showrooms. Stop the dribbling out what the new car is going to look like for a year and a half before it hits the showrooms. Leave a little excitement behind the curtain, so to speak.
