There is a reason as of the 2016s the warranty has been dropped to 60K.. I have time to research other brands. There has got to be a better product. Your Direct Injection is not the answer.
Maybe you should research the other brands. You will see that other makes with the long DOHC engine designs go through chains. You will see other makes have lowered the mileage limits on warranties. You will see most are going with direct injection.

chief...I feel the same way. Give me a Colorado w/t with the 4.3 and I'll be happy. Many other engines of other makes have had timing chain issues so this engine is not unique. I'm wondering if the chain manufacturers are now making chains of a much better quality now that the DOHC designs are popular? I do like a smaller truck but am enjoying my Sierra and it "works" better than dad's Colorado.

I had four of the old Vortec 4.3 engines and would not call them a refined smooth gem. They were a good torque engine that didn't rev out much. They were a ok farm engine. They only had 195 hp and got the same mpg as my 5.3v8 in a full size. The new Ecotec3 4.3 has 285hp but still idles a bit rough but is better than the vortec.
