Cadillac's 4.2-liter double-overhead-cam V8 engine may not be dead yet. Speaking to Motor Trend, Caddy's chief engineer Brandon Vivian said the company is still looking for ways to use the engine.

"Would I relish the opportunity to put [the Blackwing] in something else? Yes," Vivian told MotorTrend. "[Cadillac] continue to look for opportunities to use the engine."

Just where is will go remains a mystery, though. According to Vivian, Cadillac is still looking for "the right combination of the product [the engine] is going into [and] the segment it's going to compete in."

With the death of the CT6, the Blackwing lost its only home and with rumors emerging that the hotter CT5-V and the Escalade won't use the engine, it's hard to see where it will fit in.
