Mark Reuss will get another chance to set the pace in a Corvette. But this time it won't be at Belle Isle. The GM president will take the C8 around the brickyard for the Indy 500.

Endowed with the Z51 package and finished in Torch Red with Carbon Flash exterior accents.

"It's truly an honor to have the opportunity to be behind the wheel of the mid-engine Corvette Pace Car at such a historic race as the Indy 500," Reuss said.

Taking place on August 23, this year's Indy 500 will be the 104th running. This will be the 17th time a Corvette is the pace car for the race. The first time was in 1978 and this is the third time in as many years that the Corvette paced the race.

1978 wasn't the first time a Chevy acted as the pace car for the race. The first was in 1948 when a Fleetmaster led the race. Since then, Chevrolets have paced the Indy 500 31 times.
