...plus first pics (that I have seen at least) of the GP w/ a nav system!

It's a likable machine -- easy to drive, comfortable behind the wheel, and genuinely competent on the road. It even returns decent fuel economy on the highway. For the money, with the nice wheels, brakes, V8 engine and creature comforts, there's an awful lot of content.

they are canadians.. canadians love GM cars... canadian reporters do not have the false quality slant like our domestic reporters.. (who beleive unless it has a h or t on the bonnett it's rubbish) I like the new 5.3 front drivers. nice power good economy the ballance is not upset. and for god sake they sound like a proper v8 car.

Ugly, tired styling. Lack of interior room. Over-priced. Not a lick better than the Grand Prix I bought my son nearly five years ago when it was a five year old car. That was a nice car then. Sadly, GM needs to build better cars than that now or at least put some effort into making their cars look modern. This current Grand Prix is a shapeless, awkwardly styled vehicle with awful headlight design, pathetic rear end detailing, fastback roof without fastback styling benefits, awful beltline detailing at the window, and an entire shape devoid of any character.

Yes, it does have pretty wheels.

Some silver color plastic isn't going to help it. GM needs to know how to make a modern, clean interior. For example, take a look at the G35 interior above. Everything is so neatly places and designed. The buttons are organized and consistently spaced, and vents aren't all over the place. And, the G35's center console doesn't scream "insert DINs here!" like the GP's. It has a smooth integrated look. For the most part, the shapes inside the G35 are consistent and non-clashing. The GP's interior doesn't flow as well... always busy with different shapes not cooperating.

Did you do that? It looks good! I prefer the nav system to that slim radio unit though - or maybe its just the fingerprints. :D Maybe a 1.5DIN or whatever would fill up the whole space.
LOL!!! No, I have a '04 Comp G, and have thought about getting a "kit" for my car, but it basically just sticks onto your existing dash, and I don't like that whole idea! This is a picture I found online when looking to do so. Now if GM just made the areas where this kit sticks on the brushed finish right from the factory, that would be a huge improvement!!

Yeah, I'm with you Ming, this is what the interior should look like! I would pass on this car because of the bland interior work!
I agree that the interior needs upgraded, but have you actually driven one? I haven't driven the GXP, but I own a CompG, so I have an idea of how it drives, which for a 4 door is very nice!! For the price, it is still a great buy!!! I'm not big on the DVD Navigation though. It is an awfully expensive option for what you get!

I am about to take delivery of the GXP and let me tell you, it is so much fun to drive. I like the fact that it is very good at fuel economy and has a good sound from the exhaust when you hit the accelerator. I also like that the car is a 4-door and has room to put stuff. I love the GTO but that trunk and back seat is just too small for me. I hope that they sell the heck out of these in '06

Congrats! Even though I prefer the '06 Impala SS, I'm envious!

BTW, where the heck are the magazine tests of these cars. GXPs have been out for a couple of months now, and yet my C&D arrived Monday with no test yet. Nothing in Motor Trend that I've seen either. I want the numbers. I saw the Impala SS quoted at 5.7 seconds, but I want to see Car and Driver's numbers.

18/28 mileage with that kind of V8 power and room is great!
